Playboy is kind of pointless this day & age. Celebrities can post naked pictures on Twitter & Instagram (censored on Instagram) & then post pictures holding up a product & make a massive amount of money. All Playboy has is their name & that has taken a huge hit since the internet.

D and C list celebs will. MAYBE some B if you pay them enough. You'll never see another A lister in PB again though.

 

There were never many A-listers in PB to begin with. Many of their biggest stars were girls who got famous through the magazine.

The main problem with Playboy nudity is its so heavily airbrushed. Take the Lindsay Lohan shoot for example. I don't think I've actually seen her nude yet. That shit didn't count. Playboy pics are the equivalent of googling "katy perry nude fakes". Its 2017, no one is going to pay for that. Playboy had a choice when the internet came around and porn became easily accessible, they chose to publish a low quality product, they chose poorly.

 

Playboy was already getting its lunch eaten by better, more artsy magazines a year ago. Now it's playing catchup in an industry that is unforgiving about these kinds of mistakes. The decision to go back to nudity was made months ago. You know who they could've/would've approached in that time to do at least a topless shoot since she has shown off her nipples since then? Charlotte McKinney. You know who will never be in Playboy? Charlotte McKinney.

Playboy and Hugh Hefner broke new ground. They're legends in the industry, but that doesn't change the fact that the world they changed has moved on without them. It happens.

 

Playboy has a lot of problems, but the biggest one is that they never evolved. Even as the rest of the industry became far less stuffy about nudity, and the internet gave visibility to smaller publications with new ideas (and sometimes much more explicit pictorials), Playboy remained the airbrushed, bombastic rag you found hidden in the back of dad's closet.

It didn't help that Hugh Hefner went from Lifestyle idol to creepy old man, either. When I was a kid, Hugh Hefner's name was always brought up in a joking but good-natured way. Now he's a joke, or a perv, or a sad sack. Fair or not, that hurts the brand.

 

I hear what you're saying, but I'm hoping Cooper Hefner can change things by making better choices than those who were previously in charge of the magazine. Playboy will never go back to what it once was, but it can get better than what it is now.

The first thing they should do is stop airbrushing the photoshoots and show the women who pose for the mag just as they are. A lot of people are critical of this and for good reason too. Also have all the women who pose for the mag actually get naked, no more of that Heidi Montag useless shoots. Playboy should always be synonymous with nudity.

Since they're not gonna get A-list celebs posing for the mag anytime soon, why not go after up and coming actresses trying to make a name for themselves in the business? As soon as they get some notable names to pose nude for the mag, others will follow and playboy might be relevant again.

 

I disagree about the artsy mags being any real competition to pb. the internet and illegal downloads are what is killing them. charlotte is a c level star who they could get at anytime. any of the jessicas-biel,alba or simpson would move the needle. even other c listers like the cw jessicas- Lowndes,Szohr, or Stroup. They missed out on Ireland Baldwin.

 

I knew they were going back to that. When the rest of the Playboy in other nations, did NOT go non-nude!

 

The guy in charge is 0 buisness. 1st thing in office : big offer to a A celebrity to pose. Simple.

 

You guys realize that no celebrity is ever going to pose naked for this magazine again. Why would they when they can earn more money elsewhere by keeping their clothes on. Katy Perry makes more money keeping her clothes on than she would ever be offered by Playboy to take them off. Playboy stopped paying celebs like they used to. Those million dollar contracts DO NOT exist anymore! I have to wonder where all their money has gone. I know they are super desperate though, they've lowered their sub fee so low that they can't possibly be making anything now. As far as other magazines go, you know that PENTHOUSE was always shit and full of fussy ugly photos. Why on earth would you want girls to pose there. They would get paid even less. Playboy is still a brand but nobody seems to care about it.

Whenever we see celebs naked nowadays it's never from playboy. Playboy needs to start doing porn if they want to make it. Start showing unseen photos that were never released. I'm sure there are millions. Start filming shit behind closed doors. Anyways, RIP Playboy. Nothing lasts forever!

 

I think those magazines pay for the naming rights. They're not published by the same company.
