    It's a grey area. It sounds like most of the stuff posted on the subreddit is getting deleted by gfycat. Even the obscure japanese models, and ones that were complete failures. Someone probably threatened them with a lawsuit and so they're just being proactive and taking it all down.

    No, but it's getting negative press that they don't want. It's no more illegal that photoshopping someone's head on to another body. That is until a court decides isn't not, which it won't. But contrary to popular belief websites are not public spaces and have full control over what can and can't appear on them. If gfy decides it doesn't want pretend Daisy Ridley masturbating then poof it's gone.

    The act of photoshopping onto another body is illegal if you put a child in pornographic situations or if you pass it off as real.

    Though in situations 2 its more a civil matter than a criminal matter

    I would think the ones being removed are for Copyright violation as they leave the web site on the video. Although, there are bits of porn video's all over the place.

    Fakes in general are protected by the Parody Law and even the making of a fake using Copyright material has some protection from the 'Fair Use' Law

    But....I'm no legal expert.
    So, the only Copyright infringement I can see is the original video. A celeb is going to be hard pushed to sue considering thousands of images are 'sampled' and tbh, the majority of the head on the video is the porn model. Not one single one of them is 100% the face of the celeb.

    Courts don't like it much but a celebrity could go with the personal suffering route and alleged damage to their reputation or brand.
