About 99.5 % of you guys know this already and knows where we draw the line but for the rest of you please read the following.

Do not comment on celebs you dont like if it only has to do with makeing comments about harming them physically we dont want too see it. If i see it there will be a short period of time off from the forum as a result.

But i was only jokeing when i wrote that you say. Well that might very well be true and all of us try our best too see it, but remember a few of us mods arent native speakers of English and cant see it all the time.

I've violated some onus, but I don't think I can recall a time where I've actually made a comment about inflicting bodily harm. Does wanting to box Jammsbro count?

The problem with commenting in such a way on boyfriends or husbands is that many of us may not understand the context. Everyone knew Rihanna's ex was an asshole for giving her a black eye, but that's an exception. In most cases name calling should be avoided just like any other flaming. It detracts from other people's enjoyment of the forum.

 

I've never seen anybody saying they want to harm a celebrity.

 

That's because they're usually deleted. From now on the comments will remain but you will see the word Banned under the member's name.

 

I made this comment in the latest Paris Hilton thread:

"Looks like she just walked off the Wizard of Oz set."

I was going to add "It's a shame the house missed her."

I did not since that could possibly be seen as 'inflicting harm' on someone. So, is that an example of what you sexy mods would consider unacceptable? Of course it would have been intended merely as a joke, but I'm sure there'd be someone to complain about it. I figured I'd ask since the onus is my responsibility.

 

I would have laughed (in fact I did). That sort of witticism is clearly within the realm of the absurd.

Also, I think it's an old Henny Youngman joke.

 

A post like that can be taken any number of ways though. It could be seen as being silly and funny and somewhat biting and obviously ridiculous, but someone out there who REALLY likes Paris Hilton could take it as I meant death to her and get offended. I personally don't give a fuck how anyone takes it frankly, but I saw this new 'bodily harm' rule and definitely thought I should ask, especially considering the shit I come up with.

I am assuming the focus of the rule is more along the lines of 'direct threats' than anything else, at least that's how I will take it. But whatever, no big deal.

 

It's a judgement call on the part of mods, but we are more than capable of discerning between comments that are meant to be silly and those that are just plain mean.

 

there were comments like that against Lady GaGa a couple of years ago
i posted many picture threads in CP back then and the haters were very vociferous (to put it mildly)
