    Oh agriculture is another large chunk. I think PETA is exaggerating the livestock percentage. Of course it's households, especially in California that are told to ration their water usage......

    It takes 25 gallons of water to grow a single almond.

    I live in san diego and the main thing is ag, and water lawns less. The ratio is 55% of water goes to landscaping. That can be done with reclaimed waste water, which is a regular thing here. Ag needs real fresh water because people eat the end result.

    Eventually desalination, removing salt from ocean water technology will prevail, albeit expensive at the outset. Not sure why people aren't all over it now.

    cannibalism needs to replace veganism to reduce the population in CA if they want to deal with their water usage as their are too many people.

    The avocado is also a huge water waster crop - 74 gallons of water for one pound of avocado produced.
