    Secretary(Drama/Romance)

Lee Holloway is fresh out of six months at a institution. She has a history of selfmutilation in for of cutting her own skin as a relief for various reasons. She has hidden it from her parents but due to a severe cut from a kitchen knife she was institutionalised. She doesnt know if she is really finished with her treatment, it was something very boring yet comforting about the routines at the instituion. Go up the same time in the morning have talks with the doctors at the same time and so forth. Her father has problem with booze and is close to being a typical case of a wife beater. Lee is just uncomfortable with what the new open world outside of the institution has to offer. She takes classes in typeing and actually manages to get good grades in it. Time to look for work. Its a rainy day as she comes to a small lawyers office of Mr. Grey. He seems a bit strict and slightly dull at first appearance but he is open enough to tell her that she will be bored to death with the job but Leigh insist that a dull boring work is exactly what she needs in her life.

At first glance its obviously hard not talk about the fact that maincharacters has problem with suffering in various ways. They deal with it through different fetishes. As things pan out both are exactly what the other needs to cope with a normal life. I dont want to get into too much details as it spoils to much of the movie. The interesting thing is that it isnt clear from moment too moment in the film who is in charge. At times Grey gets so consumed by his own selfloathing and disgust to his own unnormal behaviour that it feels like Lee are the one forceing their releashion too drive on. It works surprisingly well as the chemistry between Spader and Gylldenhall are so radiant. It is just a sensual almost erotic bond between them in the scenes. The ending of the film is to much of a happy ending for my taste i dont buy it. Also the other cast or the so called normal life seems to unbelieveble somewho as if it also is unnormal. If i am supposed to look at my surroundings through Lee:s eyes it would make sense, im just not sure if it is supposed to be that way or not. Either way good movie.

    The Dark Knight Rises

    Went at midnight showing.

Could be difficult to understand if you didn't watch Batman Begins (or didn't like it) so you need to watch the first two movies before seeing the last one. Sometimes, it's just a little too long when Gotham is under anarchy... some little questions unsolved but all these "cons" are overshadowed by intense action scenes, amazing cast and many references to the comic books! Tom Hardy is just scary enough, Anne Hathaway is... AWESOME and Christian Bale is at his best. Both Hathaway AND Gary Oldman deserve an Academy Award nomination. If you are a Batman fan, you won't be disappointed at all! Christopher Nolan unexpectedly made an amazing job!!!

    9/10!

    The Conspirator(Drama/History)

A gathering of people has ventured to the house of Abraham Lincoln. There has been rumors that something has happened but no one really can tell for sure. There are millitary personnel outside the front door. Ever since the peace treaty between north and south there has been some concern for rebell groups that might be out for revenge for the loss of the southern army. So despite a peace on paper everyone is very much ready for anything. The news from inside the house are indeed grim the president is laying bloody in a small room just inside the hallway. War minister Edwin Stanton knows very well that the presidents life is well beyond saving at this point and gather a staff around him with one simple order find the men responsible for this no matter what.

It is indeed a rather good buildup in the film. So atleast the 15 to 20 first minutes of it has good pace and im thinking to myself this is promising. Im not saying that the later part dont live up to it but the pace and feel to it changes. It turns into a courtdrama where it is so obvious what will go down for the people that are prosecuted. Then again Robert Redford hasnt got much of a choice in the matter it is well documented what happened after the killing of Lincoln so i cant complain too much. Another one of those films where i feel that the prosecutor are being a bit to much turned into a bad guy, lets not forget USA was a traumatised country at the time and people wanted comfort and reasssurance from people at charge. Off course that meant bad luck for the prosecuted. James McAvoy might turn out too be a good actor one fine day but he cant carry this movie on his shoulders he doesnt have the charisma for it. A movie that could be better.

    Tron: Legacy (2010) - 7/10

Drinking alone on the couch on a Saturday night sounds like a setup for a pity-party, but then I found that I had this in my DVR. Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen are among my favorites and didn't disappoint; Beau Garrett was her usual awesome-looking self; and it was nice to see ol' buddy Bruce Boxleitner again. I had never seen Garrett Hedlund in anything before, and he was a nice discovery. I'd never even heard of Joseph Lisberger before, which I guess is no surprise since this was his directorial debut. The set and costume design was all very sexy - I expected the glowing-everything to get tiresome, but it never did. It was cool to see a Recognizer again, and the multi-level Light Cycle arena, the Light Runner and Light Fighters, and the beam-riding "freight train" were nice additions. The Daft Punk soundtrack really enhanced the movie (in case you missed it, the helmeted DJs in the End of Line Club were Daft Punk).

Recommended if you enjoyed: Tron (1982); The Matrix Reloaded (2003); The Island (2005).

p.s. While I was in the shower, it occurred to me that I love that this film was a genuine sequel and not another fucking remake or reboot. This movie was made with some care by people who gave a shit.

p.p.s. And may I add that a movie with an actual soundtrack instead of a collection of unmemorable and irrelevant songs used for marketing purposes is old-school awesome.

    Fantastic Four (2005) ... 6/10

I hope the sequel is better, because this movie felt like a long introduction. Rise of the Silver Surfer is next in my queue.

CHEERS! I could not agree more!! I saw the original at the theater, as a teen, and played the game like a fiend at the arcade! I saw this one at the theater in 3D and had told myself not to set expectations too high so as not to be disappointed. Far from it! I enjoyed the hell out of it and thought the soundtrack KICKED ASS! I do think it was a travesty that Reznor won the Oscar for "Social Network" and Daft Punk wasn't even nominated for this incredible score!

    The Company Men(Drama)

How do you deal with a economy that is in a recession. Well if you are a big company as the GTX corporation is there is one is solution. Downsizing the number of employees you have. Robert Walker lives with his wife in a big house. Two kids and two cars off course. The wife stays at home no need for her to work when he brings home such a high salary. Things look sweet for the Walkers and its time for the usual drive in for work. Important meeting with human resources. Fair enough n for a quickie and back to work is what Robert thinks. 15 minutes later sorry Mr Walker but the company has to lay you off. Division leader and close friend of the CEO Gene McClary isnt happy with the layoffs. He knows that this is just the beginning, because things is only gonna get worse for GTX unless the recession stops.

If you want a clear vision of what the current economy means for the working situation in the countries you get a general idea here. People are being layed off by the thousands in various companies. As the movie follows three persons closely you get some possible scenarios on how the situation is for the persons that get unemployed. You cant get a job anywhere to put it bluntly as i mentioned companies downsizes too save money so employing new staffs isnt the first thing on their priority lists. It feels so refreshing with the grim reality that hits the wiever here no comedic relief as i saw in up in the air this is what awaits if you loose your job. I do find the movie to be a bit thick on the dialogue and you might find the talk about economy a bit dull. Also i miss how the economy might hita more normal american worker. What we see here is people in a corporation but what about the plumpber that has an average joe job.

    2 Days In New York - 3/10.

An obscure independent movie that really is and should be no more than an obscure independent movie.......it's silly stupid and obvious.... running on themes and jokes that have been used a billion times before.

    Alien

As a sci-fi games fan, I HAD to see Alien (the main influence for Metroid). Second time I see that movie... in two years. And this is definitely a scary movie. Okay, it's 1979... but it influenced game companies and many other directors. AMAZING performance from Sigourney Weaver... maybe the whole cast!

    9/10!!!
