    Tron: Legacy (2010) - 7/10

Drinking alone on the couch on a Saturday night sounds like a setup for a pity-party, but then I found that I had this in my DVR. Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen are among my favorites and didn't disappoint; Beau Garrett was her usual awesome-looking self; and it was nice to see ol' buddy Bruce Boxleitner again. I had never seen Garrett Hedlund in anything before, and he was a nice discovery. I'd never even heard of Joseph Lisberger before, which I guess is no surprise since this was his directorial debut. The set and costume design was all very sexy - I expected the glowing-everything to get tiresome, but it never did. It was cool to see a Recognizer again, and the multi-level Light Cycle arena, the Light Runner and Light Fighters, and the beam-riding "freight train" were nice additions. The Daft Punk soundtrack really enhanced the movie (in case you missed it, the helmeted DJs in the End of Line Club were Daft Punk).

Recommended if you enjoyed: Tron (1982); The Matrix Reloaded (2003); The Island (2005).

p.s. While I was in the shower, it occurred to me that I love that this film was a genuine sequel and not another fucking remake or reboot. This movie was made with some care by people who gave a shit.

p.p.s. And may I add that a movie with an actual soundtrack instead of a collection of unmemorable and irrelevant songs used for marketing purposes is old-school awesome.

EDIT: New vid with better sound quality.

    Fantastic Four (2005) ... 6/10

I hope the sequel is better, because this movie felt like a long introduction. Rise of the Silver Surfer is next in my queue.

CHEERS! I could not agree more!! I saw the original at the theater, as a teen, and played the game like a fiend at the arcade! I saw this one at the theater in 3D and had told myself not to set expectations too high so as not to be disappointed. Far from it! I enjoyed the hell out of it and thought the soundtrack KICKED ASS! I do think it was a travesty that Reznor won the Oscar for "Social Network" and Daft Punk wasn't even nominated for this incredible score!

    The Company Men(Drama)

How do you deal with a economy that is in a recession. Well if you are a big company as the GTX corporation is there is one is solution. Downsizing the number of employees you have. Robert Walker lives with his wife in a big house. Two kids and two cars off course. The wife stays at home no need for her to work when he brings home such a high salary. Things look sweet for the Walkers and its time for the usual drive in for work. Important meeting with human resources. Fair enough n for a quickie and back to work is what Robert thinks. 15 minutes later sorry Mr Walker but the company has to lay you off. Division leader and close friend of the CEO Gene McClary isnt happy with the layoffs. He knows that this is just the beginning, because things is only gonna get worse for GTX unless the recession stops.

If you want a clear vision of what the current economy means for the working situation in the countries you get a general idea here. People are being layed off by the thousands in various companies. As the movie follows three persons closely you get some possible scenarios on how the situation is for the persons that get unemployed. You cant get a job anywhere to put it bluntly as i mentioned companies downsizes too save money so employing new staffs isnt the first thing on their priority lists. It feels so refreshing with the grim reality that hits the wiever here no comedic relief as i saw in up in the air this is what awaits if you loose your job. I do find the movie to be a bit thick on the dialogue and you might find the talk about economy a bit dull. Also i miss how the economy might hita more normal american worker. What we see here is people in a corporation but what about the plumpber that has an average joe job.

    2 Days In New York - 3/10.

An obscure independent movie that really is and should be no more than an obscure independent movie.......it's silly stupid and obvious.... running on themes and jokes that have been used a billion times before.

    Alien

As a sci-fi games fan, I HAD to see Alien (the main influence for Metroid). Second time I see that movie... in two years. And this is definitely a scary movie. Okay, it's 1979... but it influenced game companies and many other directors. AMAZING performance from Sigourney Weaver... maybe the whole cast!

    9/10!!!

    Creepshow(Horror/Comedy/Fantasy)

A kid is getting quiet a talking to by his father. He is even slapped in the face. ITs nighttime and a single halloween lantern is in the window. The dad is angry about his son reading rubbish. Is this what his hard earned money goes to mediocre rubbish comics that will just give his son nightmares. Well no more of that the comic will end up in the trashcan. This is the buildup to movie that centres around 5 short stories from the magazine in question. There is the idiot redneck that finds a mysterious meteorit. A aristocratic family that awaits their aunt on fathers day. A mysterious crate that is found on a college by a janitor. A disturbed elderly man that want to get back on a young couple as the woman left him for a younger man. Finally we have the reclusive buisness man in his penthouse suit that has a bit of a cockroach problem, despite his best efforts to keep the place bug and germfree.

This is an eightees movie that is a homage and tribute to oldtime comics from the 50s for example Tales From The Crypt. It is collaberation between George A Romero and Stephen King. Romero is known for his social undertones in his Zombie movies and well King he doesnt need to much of an introduction. The movie as a whole isnt that scary or even extraordinary in any way. I could stretch as far as to say that the last three episodes can pass for good but the first two are a bit of a snoorfest. Its not the thinking mans type of horror more special effects and good makeup. Its the cheap way out but it always work for a few scares even if you can tell your way through the episodes before they come. Absolutely horrendous musical choice here it could have worked if it wernt for the fact that it is too high in volume. Think 80s synth music and you get the idea. What makes me say that you should watch this is the actors list there are some really good people in this. Leslie Nielsen, Hal Holbrook, Adrienne Barbeau, Viveca Lindfors, Ed Harris and Ted Danson for example. Definitly for the horrorfans maybe not for the rest of you.

    6/10

Special Honorable mentioning to MovieHound that gave me some info on Romero.

    Reign Over Me(Drama)

dr Johnson is a dentist for a small practice in New York. You could say that his life is pretty good. Decent money and a good appartement. Loving wife and two daughters that love him. There are som signs that he doesnt talk to much about his problems with his loved ones and so on but he is slowly starting to be aware of it. He drives home one fine evening and like so often it is a trafficjam that he ends up in. A man drives by on a scooter. Its something about his wild bushy hair that makes Johnson wonder isnt this my old college buddie that lost his family in the 9/11 attacks. Yeah it must be Charlie Fineman since he is wearing big headphones he cant hear Johnsons shouts. A few weeks later they team up again and Johnson notices that something is up with Charlie.

Everything is so god damn odd in this film people acting strange and ending up in weird situations. I could swear that i could take for a sitcom despite it being a drama about loss. I mean i can understand it when it comes to Charlie since he is lost in bottomless hole of grief that he cant get out of. But the rest of the cast that should act as some sort of canvas for the real and functioning life is just beyond normal. Take Johnson for example he starts spending half the nights at Charlies playing videogames eventough he has a work to attend to in the morning. And somewhere in this mess of oddity there is a story about loss and grief unfortunatley Charlie is played by Adam Sandler so the movie was fucked from the get go. Yeah i dont consider myself to be a fan of Sandlers work and acting abilities. Good crisp photography eventough it looks like a commercial for the city of New York. No dear moviefriends look elsewhere and dont bother with this.

    Dear Flippy, you're a masochist!

Read "Starring: Adam Sandler" - read no more!

He really must have "Don" friends, otherwise it's unexplainable to me how he's still allowed to make movies.
