The Attention Deficit Disorder Thread

I'm starting to see a pattern in various threads on assorted forums I've visited or belong to over time that after the initial subject of a thread has been addressed (say between 5 to 10 posts), members tend to meander off topic and whatever the original subject was is soon forgotten - often leading to hilarity and hijinx - or not. Digression is totally unpredictable.

To that end I figure, 'Why bother with a specific topic at all?'
(Even though this is very clearly a topic itself)

Hell, very rarely does a topic of conversation pop up in real life, let a lone on a message board, that garners so much importance that people feel the need to respond with well thought out points of discussion.

On my own board, the front page tagline is "We have a talent for tengents"

because on all non tight arsed boards threads will be either hijacked or wander after a page. I think it's a good thing, its the same as the nature of human conversation. Plus. We're all about the hijack.
