Been forever since I made a gif. Needed a new avatar for a different forum, decided Salli Richardson would be good, and why not make a bigger one and post it to phun?5 MB, but if I optimized it anymore it looked like crap... Also, my frame rate is really quick, but it seems slow when the gif is loaded. Anyone have any insight into that?

this is my entire process: I use Virtual Dub or Dub Mod to extract the frames I want, then I use Irfanview to crop/resize the frames, because it can do it in bulk. Then I use Jasc Animation Shop (Full licience, not freeware) to make the actual gif. On my hard drive it is 2 frames per 100th a second, and when viewed from the Hard Drive it's too fast, but when I upload it, the frame rate is SLOOOWWWW when I download. Hope this helps explain my question. --Chum

I use the software from this thread
http://forum.phun.org/showthread.php...ighlight=ulead
Video quality is important, but, past a given point, the quality and dimensions of the video don't matter.
With most commercially produced videos, I use a program called Soft to cut out half the frames. I would rather have twice the action than half the length. For the amount of time and the size of gifs, no one can tell the difference.
I use Virtualdub and Avidemux 2.4 GTK+ to crop and resize scenes before I load them into ULead.
