i´m sure some database-care and archiving of old threads as bama mentioned will certainly help. there are also many "suggestions" for server-/mysql-/... optimizing availabe in relevant vbulletin-support-forums. someone with access and experience just needs to take a look... probably one of the tech-guys of our hoster?

phun causes a lot of traffic, but there are many sites around with not significantly less traffic, but lower hardware-equipment that still run smooth all day.

At least the 2+ year old threads that were hardly viewed or replied to by members should be deleted. Obviously all of Euphoria's threads should stay.

Sluggish performance right now has caused me to look this thread up again, and I'm grateful that it isn't only me that's suffering!

Would it be worthwhile stripping the site down to it's fundamentals - no sigs, no avatars, no frills, etc., and see whether it improves things, and if it does, then add things back in on a controlled basis to identify the critical factor(s)?

I bet cayne is thoroughly pissed off!

it took 14 seconds to do a search (mysql query). disabling that would help the forum

2000 guests searching uses alot of resources

well, sorry everyone, but... it´s Cayne´s job. he´s the only one with a link to the hoster, he´s the only one who has access to tools for data-care, he´s the one who wants to have klicks and views (means as many guests as possible).

sometimes i have the feeling he doesn´t care too much what we crazy mods are telling him constantly, so... flood his PM-box.

i for one am tired. tired of server-performance, tired of 50 new spammers a day, tired of arguing with Cayne. go and ask god when you get ahold of him.

I dont think anyone blames the mods

Slow as hell the last couple of days..

For me especially in the general forum not so much in the celeb section

understand how aggravating this can be.......... our forums are not this huge, but we have the same type of problems on a smaller scale (less mods to help too.)

sure it will all even out.

but would try to talk Cayne into a dump of all unactive/old or locked threads just for shits and giggles...

this forum would be a handful for sure.

I see where your coming from. I personally don't have a problem with the mods it's a massive job you all do and without it the forums would be full of spammers viruses and generally be fucked. The mods on this site do an awesome job, I have been on others where they do nothing but ban people for fun. So thank you for that

Yeah in the end everything rests with Cayne if he wants the clicks then that's what he will have. I haven't really had any downtime recently. But then again I havent been as active as usual
