In the post-match press conference, Landon Donovan said that he and others asked the referee - in a "non-confrontational" way - who the foul was called against. Donovan said "he just ignored us. Or maybe he didn't understand what were asking."

I didn't realize that football referees are allowed to be unspecific when calling a foul. In the frenzy of pushing and shoving around a free kick, there could be a whole menu of infractions he could choose from, but I would still expect that he needs to specify one of them.

After watching the Lakers and the Celtics beat the shit out of each other for 7 games, the lack of testicular fortitude on this team makes me want to vomit. There are high school football and basketball players who play like their lives are on the line every weekend, and these guys take the first 15 or 20 minutes of every match to warm up.
