Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads.     Excellent! You can use Inkscape to import from gimp to use potraces to grab a 2d wire frame from your gimp piece, import the new wire frame from Inkscape to Blender, extrude it to 3D then go about textures lighting and positioning without mesh modeling all that text. :) I just shaved 5-6 hours of modeling off my phun.org logo :)

    Ok, after the giant cliff learning curve of Blender kicked my ass, I switched to C4D which turns out is ridiculously easy. :tup: These took about 4 hours including time to learn the controls. I like the lighter wall best myself.

    Anyways. It looks like for the time being I'll be using C4D.

    Have you tried Ulead Cool 3D 3.5? I always liked it too.
