I agree that nobody looks likely to defeat Jones right now. Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo and Georges St. Pierre look similarly bulletproof to me. As for moving to another division, I think the UFC could only offer them more money. Every fight is a separately-negotiated contract, they can't just assign a fighter to a weight class at their whim, and none of those guys has any other reason to want to move.

They might be able to find someone at a higher weight class who could drop down, but not easily. I don't know how easy it is for shorter guys like Cain Velasquez or Daniel Cormier to drop ~40lbs. I've long thought that Rashad Evans could be an interesting opponent for Anderson Silva, if he could cut the weight. Gegard Mousasi looked like The Next Big Thing at middleweight when he was 22, but 4 years later he seems content being a mediocre light-heavyweight instead. I see no middleweights who look capable of dropping to welterweight; Shields and Akiyama already have, and a number of current UFC middleweights are former light-heavyweights. Frank Edgar is an obvious choice to challenge Jose Aldo, but he wants the rematch with Ben Henderson.

In other news, Rory MacDonald looks like the kid who bags your groceries at the store, but he's a damned beast.

Travis Browne may be the real deal too. Ben Rothwell looked fitter than he's ever been, and can probably KO anybody, but I'm not sure about him yet. The heavyweight division gets bigger and more interesting.
Aldo, Silva, St. Pierre and Jones should have a tag team match, with Bones and Aldo on the same team, Silva and St. Pierre on the other This way we'll get them all into the cage together.

    The UFC shuffling its cards:

With Frank Mir moving up into Alistair Overeem's spot against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 146, Antonio Silva is moving into Mir's spot against Cain Velasquez and Gabriel Gonzaga is joining the card to fight Roy Nelson.

Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen has been moved to UFC 148, July 7th in Las Vegas.

UFC 147, on June 23rd, will still feature Wanderlei Silva vs Vitor Belfort. Dana White may move Jose Aldo's title defense, originally intended for UFC 149, to UFC 147 even though he doesn't have an opponent yet. UFC 149 could then be headlined by Jon Jones vs Dan Henderson.

Mark Munoz vs Chris Weidman will headline a "UFC on Fuel TV" event on July 11th.

And the Nevada State Athletic Commission made it official and denied Alistair Overeem's application for a license. Overeem will be allowed reapply only 9 months from the date of the positive testosterone test, March 27th, instead of the usual 12 months.

    A good card last night.

Lavar Johnson got KO of the Night. Dave Herman recently signed up to replace Gabriel Gonzaga against Roy Nelson, so Johnson would have to wait a while for him. How about Matt Mitrione?

Nate Diaz got Submission of the Night and took Dana White's offer to take a break and then fight for the title late in the year. Henderson-Edgar II is in August.

Louis Gaudinot and John Lineker got Fight of the Night. I was only able to watch the main card, so I didn't see it.

Johnny Hendricks says he would also be willing to wait - even longer than Diaz - for a title shot, but I think he's jumping the gun. St. Pierre vs Condit hasn't even been scheduled yet. GSP might be ready in November. Meanwhile, Jake Ellenberger vs Martin Kampmann is in June.

Alan Belcher says he's ready for a title shot, but I think he's just being optimistic. How about a rematch with Yushin Okami?

Dominic Cruz and Yoshihiro Akiyama are out of their respective fights with injuries. Dana White says Urijah Faber will fight someone for an interim Bantamweight belt. Michael McDonald seems like the obvious choice, if he can be ready by 7 July; he just fought on 21 April, but it was less than 1 round.

Evidently B.J. Penn turned down a Strikeforce fight with Gilbert Melendez because he felt that moving to SF represented a demotion. I can't really blame him, I think it would be a demotion too. "Melendez needs to move to the UFC" is becoming a mantra.

It is looking likely that Faber will be fighting Renan Barão or Ivan Menjivar for the interim belt.
Faber vs. Barão and Menjivar vs. Michael McDonald are being rumoured.
