Well I have to admit, that was a pretty good trailer, it looks like it has potential. Still looks to have a lot of similarities with the Raimi films, but maybe that was unavoidable. Who knows.
I'm a little bit more excited to see it though

Looks promising. Though the Lizard could of been more badass.
You think there are a lot of similarities? Only things similar that I see, are the basics of the Spider-man mythos. Other than that, quite a bit is different. As there is a different leading lady, to whom Peter actually reveals his identity to and is with to some extent without taking two movies to get there. Then there are the web shooters, the Lizard, that Spider-man is treated like a real vigilante i.e. the arrest warrant, going into his parents history, etc.
Looks like this is for Spider-Man what Batman Begins is for Batman.
BIEBER!!! WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE SHIT?!
What I was referring to was how Spider-Man was shot, especially while swinging through the city, and doing that big shot of having the camera come swooping down over a street with traffic and swooping back up into the air to show a pov shot of Spider-Man...which they did a lot in the trilogy. Like I said, some of it may be unavoidable because of the character, other stuff, they could've done differently.
Also having him without a mask fighting the main villain in what looks to be the final battle of the movie, again, a lot like the other films. Another example his costume looking to be the same exact kind of material as the last one, except this time they've altered the red & blue pattern.
I give them credit for making the story as different as possible, but the cinematography and other visual cues are quite similar.
I guess a good example would be Tim Burton's "Batman" and Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins". Same character, both origin movies, but completely different in style, look, and tone. Where as I'm not getting that vibe between "Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man"

I like that they gave him webshooters, but still not sold on lizards look
Ya, most of that is unavoidable really.
Well, when you are a masked hero, the whole de-masking gimmick does happen. As for the costume, they probably chose the same material for practical reasons and that it is a great material to use for his costume in general I would say. Though perhaps they could of done better but I am sure they didn't think people be nitpicking that.
While similar, there seems to be a slightly more darker/crisper tone overall. If the trailer is any indicator, it appears much of the movie will take place at night. But yes, they probably should of not played it so safe and been so similar to what worked in the Raimi trilogy; considering the small time gap between the movies.
I think a better example be the difference between Burton and Schumacher. As they were close together like the Spider-man movies, yet drastically different.
But ultimately, as you said I think it was mostly unavoidable all around. And I think that is mostly true because the studio was playing it safe, as this movie series had to start off well.
