sad. if this continues (or - you never know - gets worse) there are pretty good chances to implement some narrower limits again.

 

i think u should implement some limits on file size and don't allow indian mms of small sizes they are mostly responsible for flooding and spamming

 

Sharingmatrix and Hotfile are not a good option, most people here download videos from Rapidshare and Megaupload.

You're right - it didn't take long for a bunch of new vultures to create new accounts this month and start posting with little regard to rules, content or shame.

One suggestion you may want to try, if it gets worse, is to require posters that decide to use Hotfile or Sharingmatrix, must also include the original default Phun.org filehost services (i.e. Rapidshare, Megaupload, or Megaporn) in the same posts. The main reason why there's an increased amount of low-quality posts is the potential to make money with SM and HF exclusively - you decrease that ability quite a bit if you require posters to use the original Phun.org filehosters in their posts as well.

Just a suggestion - otherwise, I'd say just kill Sharingmatrix and Hotfile. As much as I like using the current version of Hotfile, if it means ruining the Sexy Videos section, just kill it. :2cent:

Well, I was sure this was coming. Sorry, Mokkori I dont agree with the idea to have everyone be required to have to post through RS,MU(original host). Me personally, I dont want to be required to make mirrors for those host, like on Planet Suzy. To defeat these guys from spamming with new accounts, and small files, maybe instituting limits to the file size, and not allowing members to post using the new file host until after a certain amount of post, or length of membership. EX. 100 post, 3 months membership. This should deter the new money seeking joiners!

 

Even as someone who prefers having new file host options here on Phun, I can see where the mods are coming from with this issue. It can be a pretty big nuisance and I have experience with it modding at a certain other board.

I think the maximum thread creation limit + other required host will help the most. even though it'd be an inconvenience to those with slow uploads as it is.

 

Good points holecard - I don't think it's too much trouble to have one required mirror link, especially with the ease of remote uploading nowadays, but I understand it's just another step that uploaders shouldn't necessarily need to make.

The other rather annoying trend I've been seeing are inactive members that have never posted or uploaded content coming out of the woodwork to take advantage of the new HF/SM upload options. While I'd love to think that they finally want to contribute after 2 or 3 years of inactivity, seems awfully suspicious timing that they only started posting when the HF/SM filehosting options were allowed. You know who you are, bitches.

 

i am all for the use of some new hosts for images and files. Hotfile is being used in many other forums (even reputable ones) and have even surpassed Rapidshare by 6 to 1. Not because some use it to spam that we should not use it. For me rapidshare has gotten slower and greedy. In Phun forum i go for Megaupload first since it is 10 times faster to download(for me at least).

As for image hosts i recommended uppix a while back which has zero adverts. What i like is their resolution which i use on my blog.It is fast and better than image socket for example which many can see is a bit flu when you bring up big images.

Mokorriman you are right about the reposts but it is nearly impossible to control that. Some videos come under different names and a search will amount to nothing.Some just brand different names to gals who they do not know who they are just to get some points.
Also there are new members who might have not seen some of the stuff that were psoted say 2 years back so they think it has never been here and they post it since again a search has revealed nothing.

 

I've not been a big fan of hotfile. Seems that most of what I look at from there is of low enough quality (vid, sound AND content) that I end up deleting it immediately (and with 2+ TB of storage I have plenty of room). Sharingmatrix, not so much so.

Out of curiosity, what is the problem with depositfiles? Download speed is competitive with RS for me, and what I find posted there also seems competitive. Is it an upload issue?

 

As far as my own personal experience as a mod at planetsuzy is concerned this always happens when a new host is allowed...
There will be sudden drastic increase in the no. of post and a lot new members will register and post all kinds of stuff but it usually levels out due time .....
As mods change there style of modding become more strictly and rule tweeks occur

 

Sorry if it's banned, but why doesn't anyone use Netload? It's brilliant, on par with Megaupload.

 

You should have closed registration before allowing the hosts imho or restricted the people who could use them, its easy to tell an uploader from a Spammer over time. I actually use these hosts on other forums but have not here yet lol. Your forum is too big, hence the tempation is irresistable. On some forums they just allow posters with history to use these hosts.

But seriously I would close registrations.

You will have to make a decision really, as it will continue and Mods will have a lot of work on their hands policing the place.

With regard to reposts there is a degree of self regulation we can do ourselves, just go to forum issues. It does not help when people just label a vid - Katie St Ivves - Huge Facial or something like that or disguising the movie name. That gets on my nerves no end, also people posting reposts on a megathread is rife also.

Just my opinion, in truth cannot people just switch to MU, is the host most akin to RS and a lot of people have accounts already, also its real easy to grab as a free user, I can get 500kbs and and no waiting.

 

Now a days depositfile, hotfile and sharingmatrix are offering 400 to 700 mb single link file but rapidshare dont. so i think this is good decision to allow these hosts bcoz many good videos are in hotfile and sharingmatrix.. Thanks moderators and admin

Those uploader who post only hotfile and sharingmatrix link are allowed to create 5 megathread on this board and with 2 reply in his own thread in 24 hours. Megathread Not per day I want to say lifetime.

Please do this. By this way the board is not flodded by hotfile and sharingmatrix uploader.

I've only liked RS myself sucks that so many kool stuff are now on hotfile might in the future get an account there but not @ this time.

 

... and possibly a matter of personal taste:

I originally took out a RS premium account because I found that that was where I was downloading the majority of stuff from - not just pr0n - so it made sense to upload stuff there as well. I will continue to do so as, firstly, it's still very popular and, secondly, they haven't p*ssed me off - yet...

If that changes, I'm more likely to gravitate to MU as it still offers the best and fastest download options for someone without having to have one of their premium accounts.

From what I've now seen of the new options, I'm not prepared to pay out for another premium level account and I'm certainly not waiting for 10 minutes to download something - no matter how good! - So apologies to those spending time and trouble uploading stuff there.

Convenience? Taste? Laziness? Call it what you will

I'm going to start tagging my post titles with (RS) in order to save the time of those who absolutely do not want to download stuff from there. I would urge everyone to do the same as I'd prefer not to waste my time to discover whether or not a file was on one of the new options.

There is an increase in the amount of posts but not drastic so far. I seriously did not like Hotfile but as i said..it is taking everywhere by storm so to stave it out of Phun forum is not a good idea. About sharingmatrix..... i am not really sure we should have allowed that. ASAB had a good idea...may be we should close new registrations to keep the spammers away. and in 10 to 15 days allow things to flow normal again.
