Henry Cavill to Play Superman!!

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent/Superman in the Zack Snyder-directed Superman movie:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Henry Cavill has won the coveted role of Superman, the iconic superhero.

The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, who stated, ?In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.?

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

Cavill recently wrapped production on ?The Cold Light of Day? and stars in the upcoming ?Immortals,? opening this fall.

Targeted for release in December 2012, the new Superman movie will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

yeah I really didn't like SR it was a bit poor and slow and boring!

I did like Routh though. He did a great job of both Kent and Supes. But Singer (all credit to him) is a good filmmaker but was the wrong choice. I didn't like x men either. He really does know how to craft a story but has no action chops really. Something that a comic book character earns his crust on.

Synder seems tailor made for this sort of thing. I wonder if he would do a good job of Batman.

Cavill was great in the Tudors, he's easily got the presence to carry this off. Routh was far too bland, his black-hole performance in the last film was one of its many problems.

I hope they keep the last film's one good idea of skipping the origin and getting straight into the story, though. Also with Snyder it will look fantastic.

For the villain, it's gotta be Zod.

Never heard of the guy, but for a role like this, I think that's good. I hope he can pull it off. I feel sorry for Brandon Routh though, I thought he did a good job in Returns.

As for a villain, I agree, they shouldn't do Zod. The main villain should be Brainiac.

I'm not familiar with Cavill and his acting skills so I can't comment. As for looks he's ok.
On the villain thing, at this point I don't care if they do Zod or Brainiac as long as the keep fucking Lex Luthor out of the movie or in a very minor role. Enough with him in movies.

Although I would prefer Brainiac or Darkseid. And for gods sake lets see some punch action and power usage. Some real Super action.

Kristen Stewart and Glee star Dianna Agron are reportedly in the running to play Lois Lane in the new Superman movie.

According to What's Playing, Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel and Malin Akerman, the star of Superman director Zack Snyder's Watchmen, are also in contention to play Clark Kent's Daily Planet colleague and love interest.

A source claimed that Stewart is unlikely to sign up for the superhero picture because she has "too many other juicy offers", while Agron has been "getting in the door" to audition for several high-profile movies.

Anne Hathaway has allegedly been removed from the Lois Lane shortlist after winning the role of Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance and Kate Bosworth have previously portrayed Lois Lane on screen.

Henry Cavill will play the title role in Superman, due out in cinemas in December 2012.

Out of all those choices, Rachel McAdams would be perfect as Lois Lane. She's a great actress and she's got the right spunky attitude to play her.
