BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- STARZ, in partnership with the BBC, will produce and air the original limited drama series "The Missing." Filming has begun on the eight-episode run in Brussels, Belgium. Written by Harry and Jack Williams (Honest) and directed by Tom Shankland ("Ripper Street"), "The Missing" will be produced by New Pictures and Company Pictures in association with Two Brothers Pictures and Playground. It will air on BBC One in the UK and STARZ in the U.S. in fall of 2014. all3media international has funded development of THE MISSING and retains all US rights not obtained by Starz.
"The Missing" follows Tony, played by James Nesbitt (The Hobbit trilogy, Jekyll), as a man devastated by the abduction of his young son, Oliver, during a family vacation in France. He becomes a man obsessed, unable to accept that his child may be dead and spends years searching for him. Tony's exhaustive search fractures his marriage to Emily, played by Frances O' Connor ("Mr. Selfridge," A.I.: Artificial Intelligence) and threatens to destroy his life. Tcheky Karyo (Goldeneye, The Patriot) plays Julien, the French police detective who launched the initial search for the child. Even though he is retired in present day, he too cannot shake the small belief that the child may still be alive. Told using a fascinating narrative puzzle, "The Missing" explores the impact of a child's abduction, the emotional cost of obsession, hope and finding when to let go. This gripping thriller is told simultaneously over multiple time frames and set in France and London.

Amazon Studios has settled on four series orders among the 10 pilots the company announced last month were under consideration, according to sources close to the deals.
A rep for Amazon Studios declined comment.
Getting the greenlight will be “Bosch,” a cop drama based on Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series, written by Eric Overmyer and Connelly. Pilot follows title character, played by Titus Welliver (“Argo,” “The Good Wife”) as he pursues the killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court on accusations that he murdered a suspected serial killer in cold blood. Cast includes: Annie Wersching, Amy Price-Francis and Jamie Hector. Henrik Bastin of Fabrik Entertainment (“The Killing”) produced and Jim McKay directed the pilot.
Written and directed by Chris Carter (“The X-Files”), “The After” is a drama that follows eight strangers thrown together by mysterious forces and who must help each other survive in a violent world that defies explanation. Executive producer is Marc Rosen of Georgeville Television and produced by Gabe Rotter. Cast includes: Aldis Hodge, Andrew Howard, Arielle Kebbel, Jamie Kennedy, Sharon Lawrence, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Adrian Pasdar and Louise Monot.
In addition to the two drama orders, two comedy orders: “Mozart in the Jungle” a dramedy based on a memoir by Blair Tindall about what happens behind the curtains at the symphony. Written by Roman Coppola (“Moonrise Kingdom,” “The Darjeeling Limited”), actor-musician Jason Schwartzman (“Saving Mr. Banks,” “Moonrise Kingdom”) and writer-director Alex Timbers (Broadway’s “Peter and the Starcatcher”). Paul Weitz (“About a Boy,” “Admission”) directed the pilot and executive produced. Cast includes: Gael Garcia Bernal, Saffron Burrows, Lola Kirke, Malcom McDowell, Bernadette Peters and Peter Vack.
“Transparent” is a dark comedy about an L.A. family with serious boundary issues. Written and directed by Jill Soloway (“Afternoon Delight,” “Six Feet Under” and “United States of Tara”). Cast includes: Jeffrey Tambor, Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass.
Premiere date for Ray Donovan and Masters Of Sex :

New York, New York, March 25, 2014 – HISTORY® has picked up a 10 episode third season of the acclaimed hit drama series, VIKINGS, it was announced today by Dirk Hoogstra, EVP and General Manager, HISTORY & H2. Created and written by Michael Hirst, the renewal comes just four episodes into VIKINGS’ second season. Six new episodes remain in the current season airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. with the season finale slated for Thursday, May 1 at 10 p.m.
Game Of Thrones :
We have some massive news for Game of Thrones fans in the UK and Ireland; the premiere episode of Season 4, ‘Two Swords’, will air at exactly the same time as it airs across the Atlantic in the US.
Typically, each episode airs on Sky Atlantic the Monday directly after its Sunday showing on HBO, at 9pm GMT. However, this year, the episode will air on both HBO and Sky Atlantic at the exact same time. (Note that as of now, this only applies to the Season 4 premiere). Granted, this means that it will be a late night for those of us in the UK and Ireland, but come on…it’s Game of Thrones! The episode will also air at the usual time on the following Monday for those who are unable or unwilling to stay up late.

The 13-part series of one hour episodes will premiere on Syfy in 2015.

The 10-episode order is Syfy's boldest new series commitment to date. The Expanse is produced by Alcon Television Group (ATG), a division of Alcon Entertainment, and marks the company's first series order.
Academy Award-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Alfonso Cuaron's Children of Men, Iron Man) wrote the pilot; they will continue to serve as writers, as well as executive producers.

Strange Empire :
TORONTO -- The CBC has given a series pickup to a dark 1860s Western, Strange Empire, from Durham County screenwriter Laurie Finstad.
The serialized drama portrays a ruthless individual who butchers most of the men in a Canadian frontier town and then pushes frightened women into replacing prostitutes he lost in a recent cholera epidemic.
The Casual Vacancy :
The Harry Potter author is teaming with the premium cable network and the BBC to adapt her best-seller The Casual Vacancy into a three-hour miniseries, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Casual Vacancy, Rowling's follow-up to the Harry Potter series, centers on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind its pretty facade, however, is a town at war: rich at war with the poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands and teachers at war with their students.
Rowling will executive produce the mini via her Bronte Film and Television production company that she runs with Neil Blair, her longtime literary agent and producing partner. Blair is also on board to exec produce alongside Paul Trijbits (Saving Mr. Banks, Dancing on the Edge) and Rick Senat. Sarah Phelps (EastEnders, BBC's Great Expectations) will pen the mini, which will be produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts (The Hour). Jonny Campbell (Eric & Ernie) will direct.
Production will begin in the summer in South West England.
