    Exclamation DROP ORON NOW!

    FYI:
    http://www.mikesouth.com/piracy/file...n-fisher-6193/

the guy corbin just got a freeze on assets:
    http://www.mikesouth.com/piracy/oron...ong-kong-6202/

Continue to use ORON at your own risk. I for one will stop downloading, unless no other choice and I must have the file. You just know they will ask ORON to turn over logs.

Forgive me if I placed this in the wrong place; I trust a moderator will relocate it to the correct place with the Forum.

thanks for the info, it's getting ridiculous, there are hardly any more filehosters left where you can store your files, I lost for a couple of years ago with the change from rapidshare everything, I gave it another try with Megaupload, signed up for Filesonic for lifetime, bad mistake. !!!
Who is next on their list ?
Do we need all our little "private server" and sent files to each other???

The Feds can't stop porn, it's the longest business and it will always go on! Sorry had to vent

I think sites like MU, RS, FS and etc should partner with the companies/web masters and agree upon what they think is a good limit for fair use. They might have to start from scratch though if they end up closing all three in the future.

The ultra secret black market web.

Actually, I'm almost certain that if you started a new host named filehost.gov they'd never figure it out.

Thumbs down OK mods... maybe Phun really should ban Oron.

Cyberlocker Offered To Help Prosecute Users To Settle $34.8m Copyright Suit

A cyberlocker being sued for $34.8 million by an adult studio agreed in principle to a remarkable set of demands to settle a copyright infringement lawsuit. TorrentFreak has learned that file-hosting service Oron said it would turn over the IP addresses, banking details and email addresses of users alleged to have infringed copyright. The troubled cyberlocker then offered to assist plaintiff Liberty Media in civil prosecutions against its own customers.

    http://torrentfreak.com/cyberlocker-...t-suit-120706/

On a personal note, I AM NOT surprised AT ALL that Oron would basically "sell out" their users. Of course, facing a $34.8 million suit makes it easy to go Benedict Arnold on their user base - but having seen first-hand the detestable tactics of the Oron company, I am not surprised in the least by Oron's actions.

Anyway, mods I don't know if it would be a good thing to keep Oron or not as a filehost - your call.

We could embargo Oron, though I don't see how phun could be held culpable in any aspect of the lawsuit, unless Liberty Media were to go after forums where members/contributors use Oron as a filehost. That doesn't appear to be the case, and I'm not certain they'd have a legal leg to stand on if it were. One can never tell though.

    Agreed and true, Riv.

I was thinking of doing it more out of a service to members who continue to upload to Oron and may not be aware that they might get tracked and sued. But yeah, you're right - if they're not aware, I guess they should be. Buyer beware so to speak.

said it again a while back (after this megaupload-thing, i guess...) - it`s pretty useless (if not highly risky) to hope to establish some kind of "business" with cash-hosters. nothing i`d rely on making a living....

as a matter of fact we, the phun-staff, decided to allow cash-hosts (there are not too many cash-free ones left) to keep the SVF (and other sections here) alive. maybe, maybe one day we or our successors will decide to get rid of file-hosts at all, you never know. i wouldn`t mind to see a phun without the SVF one day - not only from a moderator-point-of-view.

If people want to see their free samples of porn videos then they'll have to see those tube sites and subscribe to the sites if they want the full video. The way it should be.

Real worry is that now other companies know that oron not only keeps detailed logs but will share them at the drop of a hat, wouldn't be surprised if lawsuit after lawsuit is launched just so they can all get their hands on ip info for mass litigation against users.

I wish i had never downloaded a single file from oron and i certainly never will again.
