It sucks they're called legends because I always thought they were terrible, and Trish's constant pushes and title reigns pushed me towards actual women's wrestling like Shimmer back in 2004/05.

Trish is overrated but she and lita led a strong women's roster to a great run during the attitude era. Now best wrestler for me is Gail Kim.

Trish and Lita were legit, Lita was better but Trish was the easiest to push.

You have to be good to be overrated and Trish was never good. The WWE just wants us to believe that because they created her from scratch. They even make their younger female talent to say shit like Trish is who inspired me to get into wrestling when that's false.

For all intents and purposes, Trish was the Hulk Hogan of woman's wrestling. There were always better wrestlers and workers but she was the biggest star with the most attributes to easily push.
Lita, Jackie, Molly, Victoria, Ivory and etc were better but she was the biggest star. Same with now, Charlotte is probably the 4th or 5th best woman in WWE but she is the biggest star. She'll be eclipsed by Asuka soon as well as Rousey.

The WWE wants you to believe that and that's why they pushed her down people's throats. She never drew and I'd say Sable and Sunny got bigger crowd reactions than her. She was brought in as a valet but put into matches because wrestling was going that way anyway. I'd say Lita was more popular than her and others mentioned could've been bigger stars if they were given the same push she was. She must have been blowing somebody because she got to retire with the belt and then come back and take Melina's spot in Wrestlemania. Who would think that of all wrestlers in their history that only Trish would get to leave while holding the strap. Not Sammartino, Rock, Austin, Hart or even the Hulkster got that privilege.

When I say best I mean in terms of being a worker. Charlotte is good but Sasha, Bayley, Becky and Natalya are better workers.
Charlotte is the best in terms of combination of all skills, similar to Trish in her day.

It was about marketing the woman back then more than drawing power(women didn't get put in a spot to really draw, they were there to draw eyeballs of men). Trish was a clean cut blonde who started out as a fumbling valet who turned into one of the best women's wrestlers of all time. Lita was a tattooed wild child who was the perfect rival for her, but in terms of marketing to the masses, Trish was easier to push. It's the same thing WWE has always done. Picked a person who has charisma, a semi clean look and pushed them to the moon, sometimes it worked and other times it didn't.
Sable was definitely a huge reaction getter and a pretty solid in ring performer, Sunny got reactions but she never wrestled.
Trish had people interested in the women's matches, the overall depth at the time helped to keep things fresher than say when they went bra and panties with gravy matches and etc.

She wasn't easy to push she, was pushed because she was the WWE's creation from scratch. She was a fitness model that got a job with them because she appeared on a sports talk show in Canada with former WWE Canada president Carl Demarco. She had no prior experience in wrestling and they pushed her to show that Vince is a genius. They even gave her Raw diva of the decade when she was still fairly new to wrestling and Sable and Sunny had more impact for them than she did. I'm sure another female talent would've been bigger than her had they invested in them like they did Trish.

No, she was easy to push. Politics play a huge role in getting a push in wrestling but she was also perfect for what WWE liked to push to their audience.
It's pretty simple, if you run a business and a person has the look and feel of what you want your company to present itself as...are you going to push and promote that person or someone you feel is a lesser embodiment of your vision?

WWE has pretty much always followed that model from Sable to Stratus to McCool to Candice Michelle to Kelly Kelly to Nikka Bella to Naomi to Charlotte to Bliss.
They do the same thing on the men's side for the most part as well. They take guys who are former football players, weightlifters, strongman competitors & build them into something.

The best pure wrestling talents are usually turned into good hands and used to help the people they view as the true stars get over.
