    I am sure that she does what she (and her agents) thinks she must to secure further acting roles. Her career as Alex Dunphy is nearing an end, so she probably doesn't want to be typecast as the "pudgy" (by Hollywood standards alone) brainiac Alex.
    My disappointment is that she seems to have lost 10-15 lbs very quickly, and arguably unnecessarily. But then, the TV/movie business is ruthless and cutthroat. Casting choices are made, by Harvey Weinstein types, based on many factors, some whimsical, where the slightest perception that an actress is "pudgy" can mean the loss of a role that pays tens of thousands or even millions of dollars.
    The real shame is that such entertainment standards and policies have convinced some portion of the public that such extreme thinness is the most desirable.

    It is important to distinguish the following concepts in life:

    1) I like how this larger than normal person looked before losing weight
    2) It is a known fact that the attractiveness of a person (and the earning power tied to it) increases as their weight gets closer to the 'norm' for hollywood.

    Both of the above can be true.
