What could anybody's reasoning possibly be for saying this? Her movie hasn't even come out yet? is it all just incel assholes? And if so, what exactly is their problem?

To be fair, maybe they're just saying that she really is a superhero - I'm fairly certain it would take some kind of superhuman abilities to stop that particular cinematic juggernaut.

Exactly this. Brie is very outspoken about her views, she already said that she was adamant about not wearing the black Ms. Marvel outfit (which I have zero issue with, it would look ridiculous on the big screen) and the incels are scared since they've already said Danvers is the most powerful "good guy" in the MCU that we've seen so far, they are trying to make comparisons to Last Jedi and other shit.

I just hate the fact that these assholes have got the reach to get into my algos. I just want to drink some bourbon, watch an ASMR video and a trailer. Go the fuck away.

For me the worst is people acting like the backlash is anything but reactionary and claiming it to be organic in anyway. Youtuber idiots are using this more cheap clicks.

Since everyone ignored what I assume was a sincere question I will give it a go.

Firstly, no one has said exactly this, "BRIE LARSEN DESTROYED THE MCU" as far as I or google search have been able to find. The sentiment with regards to Brie Larson seems to be that her acting is a bit wooden in the previews and she has the general attitude of a grump. Off-screen she has made a few poor statements. Which, when placed together, are a PR problem for those still recovering from recent disasters like Ghostbusters* (2016) and The Last Jedi. What has been said is that Brie Larson destroyed Captain Marvel, which is yet to be seen, and that could be the misstep that leads Marvel as a franchise on a downward trajectory. I think this is unlikely. I still would have preferred Katheryn Winnick. Brie is too young, cute, and slender for the role in my opinion.

Next, the issue of the film not being out yet. That isn't relevant. How successful the marketing has been to a general audience is all that matters. Having a lead that is actively rearranging her press pool to reduce the largest demographic for her film, may send the wrong message. This is also, probably, the case with the HER to HERO transitions that are both pointless and pandering. We have eyes. We can see that she is female. It's also a weak point when Wonder Woman beat you to that game two years ago with a good movie and less pandering. All you need do, to see that the marketing failed, is look at the audience anticipation score on rotten tomatoes. Unfortunately, you no longer can. It was bad enough that they were pressured to change the whole system to hide it.

Is it all incel assholes? No. There are dozens of reasons to dislike the given trailers for this film. Being too ugly or spastic to get laid isn't one of them. Incel is just the latest bogeyman label to put on anyone who disagrees with the social justice media narrative. It's better than alt right nazi I suppose, but it's hardly accurate. Not everyone that understands "social justice", a synonym for prejudice, is literally Hitler or even unfuckable.

I have liked Brie Larson since The United States of Tara premiered and I know she is a good actress. I hope she helped make a good film here. But she has given me reasons to worry. She set out to make an activist film. Marvel has marketed with an activist tone. And they both slander, attack, and silence their critics. Most people don't buy tickets to make a political statement. We want to be entertained. Hope that was helpful.

I guess there's every chance in the world I could be wrong about this, but honestly, reading your post just makes you kinda sound like the type of person I was describing.

Maybe you don't like the incel label or the alt-right label, but the only people I've ever heard raging against 'social justice' are young, angry white dudes. I'm a grown-ass man; I'm old enough to remember Watergate and the aftermath of the Civil Rights movement. Social justice is not a put-down or a negative thing. If you think it is (and your comment about The Last jedi makes it abundantly clear where your head is at), then I suggest you do some growing up in the real world & interact with some diverse people outside your comfort zone soon rather than watching Jordan Peterson tell you how to clean your room. And I also suspect that Captain Marvel will do just fine; there are a lot more people in the world than young white dudes, and they've had their share of media catering to them for long enough.

I'm sorry but why is thinking that The Last Jedi is a bad movie negative thing?

Last Jedi is a huge mess filled with plot holes (nothing new for SW movie), bad acting (again, nothing new), poorly developed characters (that is new... characters were always SW's greatest strength) that at times seem like it was written by someone who never saw a SW movie before and know nothing about the setting his movie is taking place in. So why would thinking that it's a bad movie be something negative?

I guess one could just honestly dislike it, but invariably, every criticism I've seen of it has had misogyny as its foundation. I personally don't get it; it was no more or less silly than any other Star Wars to me, and a lot more enjoyable then many.

I know... but I'd love to see these in HQ anyway.

Here's a candid from the same shoot.

That's funny because I didn't found anything enjoyable in it. Honestly, at this point I'm far more interested in Clone Wars S7 then in Star Wars IX.

The thing is, that while everyone focused on misogyny (mostly real but not all of it), my biggest problem with new characters introduced in TLJ is that they're all human! That makes TLJ first (and so far, only) Star Wars movie that didn't introduced a new non-human character in some significant role! Even worse, the existing non-human characters were either killed off, turned into comic reliefs or reduced to "blink and you'll miss it" cameos... I find it ironic that everyone praise Johnson for creating diversity when in reality he reduced SW universe to a single species.
