"Tall Bird" has arrived in Dublin (landed yesterday).

Well, I moved in, nice floor and my new work mate cooked me breakfast.

The new place is central in a Georgian house convert and near work, I like Dublin.

But too much tonic in the gin!!!!

Not sure when I'll be on again, got get things together here and focus, but will be back soon.

This sounds as though you're making settling-in moves, Sophie, are you going to be there for some time?

Found out today anything from 2 weeks (unrealistic) to Christmas, it depends on whether it's no deal or not.

I'm getting settled in and I'm a homemaker and I'm wearing pink.

Is there any significance in your facing October 31st on the EU side of the hard/soft/negotiable/hypothetical/invisible, etc.. border?

Pink is good for disguising "men's" feet! ;)

It's not the border as opposed to Single Market opportunities that cease in the UK on Nov 1st, but don't change in the ROI, plus its English speaking which wouldn't be the case if a office had been opened in Brussels.

We're not alone here, lots of companies of different sizes have opened stop gap offices here, whether they're still here in a year remains to be seen.

Perhaps that's an answer for all import/export companies? To have registered offices on both sides, and transfer goods and services "internally" within their own organisations, each end of which complies with and satisfies the terms of their local regulatory regime? Let's face it, traders want to trade, and the only barriers are political! And if tax avoiders can utilise borders to advantage, why shouldn't others?

It could but they'd need to factor in the costs of a working office/stafff/rent (as opposed to a holding address) and whether their amount of business would warrant the cost.

At the lower end you're right, but I can't imagine the major players haven't worked something out? I cannot believe that BMW, Audi, etc., the French wine producers, the Dutch flower and bulb producers, etc., etc., are simply accepting that October 31st brings an end to lucrative business just because the politicians say so?

My apologies! Let's not go down this route! Mea culpa!

You look like you're at a resort:)

    Sophie pics are always great:)

Sounds pretty chaotic, no wonder you're all stressing out over there, since it seems you're all just in limbo right now and all that's at stake is the entire economy and financial health of basically everyone:eek:

Well currently the Single market from the West Coast of Ireland to the Polish border with Russia ends a month today for the UK.

What happens after that I haven't a clue, if things hopefully work out this office will be gone by the Spring, if not it may stay and this will be a EU office where you can still work in the Single Market and its advantages.

This office won't? be effected by whatever it will have on the economy here of a no deal.

    Meanwhile

I've found a cafe on the way to work for a sausage sandwich.

Next non work thing is find a gym that features boxing.

Is there anybody in Dublin that you already know and can socialise with, or are you on your own and starting from scratch?
