Getting ready for bird season...another 3 weeks and they should be flying by in huge numbers. The interior is just starting to freeze, to force them down south.

    How about you?

Dove is something that I haven't hunted for since I moved from Montana, which is unfortunate because I really enjoy it.

Duck hunting can be fun, depending on how you approach it. I am not a huge fan of setting up decoys, and sitting there all day waiting. I'd much rather be out walking around like for pheasant.

I am not a huge duck fan, Cause without a retriever it sucks ass to go pick them up.

With pheasants i normally bag about 30-40 a year with my pointer, we go about 6-7 day hunts a year.

But as far as doves i knew this year sucked ass that is why i didn't even bother to go. One year i shot till my shoulder couldn't handle the recoil anymore. But most f the time it is like a crap shoot, last year stunk big, a week before opening the sky was blackened with them, the week i went up they just vacated and it i shot like 2 dozen of them the entire trip. :(

with a dog that is how it should be done. Gawd i love pheasant hunting. :D

i just think walking a line and jump shooting them due to sheer numbers like in montana and the dakota's is a bit much. I want to work it with a good dog and see what i can find. A good hunt is hitting 2-5 pheasants in a day's worth of walking :D

My buddy has a retriever for the duck hunting and I keep tellimg him I'm not going to buy waders so I won't be able to help set up the decoys but he doesn't think that's a good idea for some reason

I agree with you Azz...but if you've never been to Montana or the Dakotas to hunt pheasant, you HAVE to...there's nothing quite like pheasants so thick that you can drop 5 with one shot!

That would be a good time, what's the limit there though, in Kansas we can only get 4, 5 in one shot would make for a quick hunt:)

Hahahahaha... that should be a great excuse for a fatty like me, but you slim should be humping decoys on your backs and help out! :p

Yup that is why i enjoy pheasant hunting so far, a slaughter of doves is fun, but a slaughter of pheasants becomes a pain in the ass cause you have to pluck them afterwards. :-?

With doves i just breast them out. Fried with butter sauce at night by the camp and that shit is sooooo good. :D
