On my way to Bristol to see my ex, my Cats, go for dinner and a drink
and watch the Premiere of "The L Word Generation Q".

Shane is back! which always made it strange as that's my brother's name too.

You'll love it just for her I'm sure(plus, we've already been privy on here to scenes of hers which should pique your interest ). But yeah, I'm sure you had to be careful to never say you thought Shane was sexy that would have gotten some from people

Sidenote; Kristen Stewart reminds me of Shane in so many ways nowadays, wonder if she drew some inspiration from the original series once she decided to stop giving a fuck what the mainstream thought of her and just be herself.

 

I was a bit young first time around, but Shane was everything!
L Word was really good, but at the time the majority of episodes were written by men aimed at women.
Which I hope has changed for the reboot, things have really changed since the original series.

Estranged cats in Bristol - I was pretty fucked up at the time, I didn't have somewhere permanently to live and the Cats didn't deserve that as I didn't want them to suffer, so they live with an ex.

By the time i settled and got myself together, they were happy, so they stayed there.

When they showed the l word here i kind of felt it still was a bit of a taboo subject. Being in love with others of your own gender the horror. It was also aired rather late in the evening.

Talking of London, I love flying!

Here are pics I took out of the aircraft window, I took these from when i returned from Dublin before and last week.

If you're flying from the West, you'll fly over Central London as you approach Heathrow.

If the weather is right, you'll see something like this...

Coming out of the clouds, you'll see Central London, the River Thames and the bridges across it, if you've ever seen the original "Mary Poppins" film, there's an opening scene that resembles this.


It depends if you have to circle before you can land at Heathrow you get some great views.

Even if you don't, you'll get some great views, the Thames, the London Eye and Westminister/Parliament.

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and Tower Bridge.

and Albert hall, Albert Memorial and Kensington Gardens.

If you ever visit London and you're flying in from the West into Heathrow, sit on the right-hand side of the plane to get the view!

 

Great quality on those pics, easy to make out various points of interest.

 

I suppose it was back then, it was shown in the States on the "Showtime" network which was (and is still is)
a subscription channel. Which means in US terms #AdultContent, in other words, sex and nudity.

As I mentioned the original L Word was written in the main by men, in a series supposedly aimed at Women.
This lead to accusations of nudity for the sake of it (and ratings), but as the series went on that changed.

Ok,L Word to your average Lesbian (while mirroring some lifestyles) wasn't that realistic.
These were rich Lesbians, even the poor ones that complained about having no money still went around
in brand new high-end SUV's and lived in a beautiful apartment.

But it wasn't a porno, which until then was about the only time Lesbians appeared on screen.

But it did suffer from the continuity of characters, in other words.

Shane, a major character in one season discovered she had a half brother and repaired her relationship
with her father, who by the next Season had both vanished from her life, never to be seen or mentioned again.

But it was about visibility, there had never been a mainstream drama about Lesbians before.
It didn't make it "Acceptable", but it gave Women/Girls characters (in particular Alice & Shane
who were played by two real-life lesbians) someone they could relate to, that being a Lesbian was as normal as being Straight.

I didn't see L Word Q last night, I'm going to save up some episodes and see it over over Christmas into the new year.

im honestly not sure how i feel about those pics of Emma. I mean if she doesnt want too show skin im all for it. On the other hand you kind of expect something if you are in the Pirelli Calendar. And well as nice as the photos are quality wise i cant help but to feel a bit meh.

I guess its the hormones talking.

Work Christmas Dinner and party tonight.

 

Last Saturday brought Wifie for a tour of Tower Bridge, you can actually go below and into the bridge and see how the two parts of the road rise.

You can also visit the walkway between the two towers!

There's a brilliant view of London from it and has a glass floor where you can look down at the road and river below you.

If you've seen "Spiderman, far from home", you might recognise it.

The tour is highly recommended!
