I don't care. Men can change to women, Asian can change to American, white can change to black, trans can change to non trans.
Doesn't bother me one way, doesn't bother me the other if they do a good job.

I loved this film. Wish it had done better and we could have seen more of the world.

lol What? None of what you typed makes any sense at all. An asian woman should play an asian woman, a black man should play a black man, a trans person should play a trans person, etc. There are enough talented actors in Hollywood for that to be achieved. This isn't 1950, it's 2020. Are you asian? If not, why do you think opinion matters more? Also, the movie sucked, it was a poor adaption of the great anime movie/series.

I'm not offended by one person playing another. I wasn't offended when Daniel Day Lewis played a disabled person in My Left Foot.
Should Idris Elba have been blocked from playing Roland?
Should Jodie Whittaker have been blocked from playing the Doctor?
Should Noma Dumezweni have been stopped being Hermione?

I Don't care who plays what. If you have a problem with a certain colour or genetic line playing a fictional character then that is on you. But I highly suspect that you are in favour of it one way, and absolutely against it another way. Which is hypocritical.

If they are so talented, they should be able to play any types of role either that be an asian, a black, a trans, a gay or whatever, that's what actors do. They play someone that they are not. That's what being an actor is.

This kind of rhetoric which places everyone on a level playing field pretends that all races have received equal treatment in the industry, which is not the case at all historically or currently. A minority playing a character traditionally thought of as white (or woman playing a character traditionally thought of as male) is not the same as a white character playing a traditionally ethnic character etc. It just isn't, and no amount of feigned ignorance will make it so. Bring some context to your half baked "colorblind" race politics.

What you're saying is ignorant and makes no sense in 2020. There are enough actors of all different ethnic groups, genders, sexualities, etc nowadays. There shouldn't be a "norm" that a straight white actor is the first choice for whatever role, and it's discriminatory practice that isn't going to be tolerated by society on the whole, anymore.

The thing you're not seeming to understand is it isn't for you decide, and it's irrelevant that it doesn't bother you. Go do some research and you'll see that most people in places of power (producers, directors) in Hollywood are old (50's+) white men. Society on the whole is tired of that narrative. They're not the ones who should be deciding what's normal and acceptable nowadays. The communities and people being directly affected are the people whose opinions on this topic matter. Motoko Kusanagi was a Japanese woman in the movies and tv series. There are many Asian actresses in Hollywood that I'm sure were either turned down the role or not considered. I have nothing personally against Scarlett Johansson, but she made a mistaken taking the role.

And there shouldn't be a "norm" that a lesbian character should be automatically played by a lesbian if a straight actress could to a better job acting in that role. And yes, I'm refering here to Ruby Rose in "Batwoman".
