    same here. i remember that she danced for quite a while before she realized there were no cheers. then, it hit me. she had a hearing problem. deep! that would explain the short hair that did not cover her ears as well. this made me feel for the character, and i commend the makers of Under Siege for making Miss July '89 someone who is auditorily challenged in the film. her character still overcame all adversity, and this was a great display of cinematic empowerment.
