    It's an "American pale lager", which was styled after the Czech pilsener but has developed into its own category.

    Bud is a typical incarnation of the form: a bit sweeter, and very subdued to no hop flavor with extremely light body. American-style pale lagers will use a high percentage of corn and rice in an effort to get a very light body styling, and usually try to hide any hoppiness.

    I'm not a fan of the style in general, but occasionally on a really hot day I'll have one to cool down with.

    Pretty much all the major export US beers (Bud, Miller, Coors) and Molson out of Canada are in this style.
