I just had an orange for the first time in a couple of years and while I was eating it I thought to myself, what kind of fucked up world we live in where it's cheaper to have take away and junk food than to have proper healthy food. I know junk food and take away have always been quick and easy to have but no always cheaper. Now with inflation and the world economy and shit it's actually pretty much cheaper to eat shit than to eat proper food.

 

The price of fresh fruit and vegetables is just insane these days. From as far back as I can remember my mother always bought the healthier alternative sort of thing but slowly fruit and vegetable prices went up and eventually it went to where the amount of what she used to buy of fruit and vegies is now junk food and the small amount of junk food that she did buy is about how much fruit and vegies she buys.

 

Yeah your right man, i find my self eating alot of takeaway lately cause one i hate going to do the shopping in the first place lol and two it's so fucking expensive

Well my meals at work is leftover from takeaway places, mainly all you can eat buffes. So easily 8/10 meals of mine is take away/ pure junk food.

 

Is there two guys in there somewhere fucking each other?

 

Oh god, don't get me started. I hear ya bro.

I grew up in Illinois, here in the US. The soil is black and shiny with minerals - you could plant a car hood ornament and grow yourself a Mercedes were you so inclined! It's that fertile! Once or twice a week my mom would go to a local vegetable stand an pick up ripe, just picked corn, tomatoes, lettuce, arugala, pumpkins - whatever. For dirt cheap because there was no middleman. My friends and family in Chicago still can do that, because very little has changed; the price is a little higher, but not much.

Me? I live in the middle of a desert. Everything I eat has to be trucked in from hundreds of miles away. When it was just me living alone, it was acyually cheaper to eat take-out than to create meals for one from the supermarket - unless I wanted to cook a meal in bulk and freeze the leftovers.

I fucking hate fast food for the most part.

I just realised that when I tried to think back to the last time I had an orange. Fuck me I haven't had grapes in a long long time. I grew up eating lots and lots of fruit and vegetables and now it's yeah 80% junk food.

 

You should see it in person. Next time you take a vacation TK, let me know... I'll give you some good ideas.

 

I used to work in a Deli for a supermarket chain here (Woolworths) and all the shit there is processed and shit.

Difference between low fat and regular sun dried tomatoes? low fat were taken from the top of the packet so they would have less oil in them.

It's funny, I live right next door to California, one of the largest food producing regions in the world, and I can't get farmstand fresh vegetables! Everything is processed, packaged and displayed like plastic samples in an asian restaurant store front!
