    My dad retired when I was 18 and pretty soon afterward my parents put the homestead up for sale. After the house was sold, they went out and bought a 32' travel RV and a van to pull it with and told me, "Guess what? You're on your own." I was on my own before my 19th birthday. I've never looked back either. When they say there's no going back? In my case it absolutely true!

    I've been out of "the house" since I was 16. I came home one afternoon to find all my shit strewn across the front lawn. Of course at 16, I "knew everything", and my Old Man was a moron. I rapidly came to grips with the fact that my prior statement was completely incorrect. Thank Christ I'm as good looking as I am, so I had plenty of beds to crash in w/a side of clam! LOL! :p

    All bullshit aside...this tale is true. I've always done my own thing, bought our home, and my truck without help from anyone. The Old Man instilled the work ethic in me, and I'll thank him for it every day of my life. ;)

    I went to residential school when I was 13. there was no high schools in my hometown at the time so I left home to go to grade 10. I stayed in a dormitory that was split between the guys and girls, about 300 of us lived in there.

    went to school across the street. went home for Christmas break and holidays, then home for the summer. graduated after 3 years.

    after that I left for college, then moved home to take care of the family when my Dad became sick. been working since I was 18.
