All I know if you need a very focused mind to card count, it isn't fucking easy at all. I deal the game and have enough trouble remembering the total of the cards on box one by the time I hit the last box.

Well the guy who was counting the other day wasn't doing it on the continuous shufflers, he was doing it on the 8 decks where the 8 decks get shuffled and put in a shoe and get used down to the last deck and a half then shuffled again.

 

I watched a special on the MIT guys that hit Vegas - I could never do that shit. I was just wondering if it like that.

 

Well he was either card counting or extremely lucky and mildly retarded.

 

When I was taught to count cards it was the whole +1 for big cards, -1 for small cards and the such. In the end it still does take a bit of luck.

Basically you keep track of the ratio of high cards to low cards in the deck and bet more when there are more high cards (since that favors the player more).

There are a lot of different strategies, the first public one was in mathematician Edward Thorpe's book "Beat the Dealer" from the 1960s (though people were counting succesfully before that, they just didn't publish their methods). It worked fine at the time, but with multi-decks you need different strategies and the more decks there are and the more often they shuffle, the less worth it it is.

And you'll get banned for it as I said.

In "classic" blackjack, Thorpe's system moved things from a .5% casino edge to a 1% player edge when played correctly.

First you need to get a ticket in a 3000player freeroll (top250 get a ticket) then you have to play in 1 of 5 Day1-tournaments. Top 400player from each Day1 keep their stack and get a seat on a Day2 table.
First few placed get a full WSOP(E) package worth 17,500dollar. Following places get 500dollar, 93dollar and 10dollar tickets.
I finished 100th last month.

 

At my casino there is about half a dozen versions of Blackjack, a pain when trying to deal and your dealing a different version.

Some the dealer hits on a soft 17, some the dealer doesn't. Some the players can double on any first two cards, some where only 9,10 or 11.

I remember the first proper poker tournament I was in, was about 100 people and I finished 10th. Was chip leader for most of the tourney but laid down a hand when a mate when all in over the top of my raise and I didn't have the heart to call him.

 

freerolls are awesome, but I prefer them with some butter or salad on em.

It's really cool. I had some fun while playing the tournaments and got a 10Dollar ticket to a tournament of my choice.
But i played to risky at that point. I could've easily won a 93, or even 500dollar ticket.
