Because apparently that guy has a weird hang up about so-called "nepo babies".

Jamie is the daughter of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, both pretty famous actors. I guess that’s what’s being pointed out.

But does he think her parents are still carrying her in 2026?

Her first screen credit was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo on Quincy M.E. in 1977. Fine, maybe that one was a favor to her parents. But the next year she landed Halloween, and she had to carry that entire film on her back as a 19-year-old. That movie didn't become a genre landmark because of Tony Curtis.

Nearly five decades later, she's still going. Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies, Freaky Friday, Knives Out, Everything Everywhere All at Once. That last one got her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2023. She also has a BAFTA, two Golden Globes, and an Emmy.

She won an Oscar 45 years into her career. You don’t do that on nepotism. She's been working consistently across horror, action, comedy, and prestige drama her entire adult life.

Her parents might have opened a door. She then spent 48 years proving she deserved to walk through it.

 

I misread your comment and thought it read like Amanda was the daughter of Jamie. My bad. Sorry.

 

Oh no worries. I was just explaining once I realized it was a “nepo baby” thing that it was referring to. It was aimed at Jamie being the daughter of. I mean all women are the daughters of someone so the comment didn’t make sense until @havewelost’s comment.
