If you're a Lili Reinhart fan, you should treasure this clip. It's clear to me that she was not intended to show anything in the sex scene.
Fortunately for us, incompetent direction and/or camera operation produced a couple of slips.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for her to do another one, and I'd love to hear a recording of the conversation they had with her to
get her to agree to let them use the footage they had.

 

My guess? She agreed to film topless at the time but maybe got cold feat afterwards so director/studio agreed to edit it to not "show" anything but done a bad job of it. The scene is solid but it does feel toned down from what they most likely actually shot, wouldn't be shocked if the director or whatever has a clear topless shot stashed away originally intended for the full release. I doubt she filmed topless if they had no intention of showing anything because why shoot topless then? She's not some amateur needing work she's a pretty established name if she didn't want to shoot topless she wouldn't especially when in 2026 you can't just force nudity from actual names anymore in Hollywood.

 

And no one realized it until it was too late? It's not porn, it's a chick flick.

 

They would have realized it when they reviewed the dailies. At which point they would have contacted the actress, since the nudity was outside the scope of
her contract, to get her permission to use it. If she said no, which she had every right to do, they would have revised the production schedule and reshot the
scene. Which costs money. Which she would know. So the producers had to offer her some inducement to sign off on a couple of minor slips. I'd love to know
what she got for it, but I doubt we'll ever find out.

 

Surely this was shot on digital like most stuff these days, rather than film. I don't think they'd have to wait until the end of the day, she could literally review the footage right after the take was done. None of this feels like it was done by accident or by incompetence.

In pretty much all of Lili's previous work, she's worn a bra or other top during sex/intimacy scenes, she's never gone topless. I don't know why you think she wouldn't have just worn a bra again for this movie (a rom-com based on a book that was apparently originally a Star Wars fan fiction!!) if she wasn't consenting to nudity. It seems weird to me that your theory is she somehow agreed to film topless instead of her usual bra, but also didn't review the footage straightaway and got convinced to accept it after the fact for more money. I'd say it's more likely it was an active decision on her part to pre-consent to some very incidental nudity in low light.

 

Didn't she say she was doing nudity or am I misremembering?

That pair of posters above are trying to create their own narrative of how they would like the post-production to have played out.
(Including one defamatory accusation that the director has stashed away unreleased topless shots - oblivious to the fact the director is Claire Scanlon, a 55 year old woman.)
They appear butt-hurt that they're not getting to view something that she (the actress) "didn't want us to see!"
There was even a female intimacy coordinator. There is nothing in the final edit that's not been signed-off by all parties for public consumption.
