    I agree mostly, but once you have kids you don't get to make decisions just for yourself. These kinds of judgements are radically different for parents vs. non-parents.

    I'm a huge opponent of "think of the children" in general--people who haven't had kids shouldn't be forced to do (or not do) things in private because others have kids. But once you _do_ have kids, you've made a life decision that you have to consider at every moment until they're adults.

    Like most generalizations, that one is flawed. I have a child and I am a single father. There are some compromises, but she is not the boss of me. She may want, but she will never need, and she will always have my undying love and affection - more than I ever thought I had in me. Meanwhile, I can pretty much do as I please.
