I think it was Carl Sagan that said (about intelligent desgin) that purist evolutionists believe the universe formed by matter of course but if you took a pile of bricks and threw them into a heap you would not make a house. yet we are expected to believe all the immensity or the universe just managed to work.

evolution is environment vs need, the universe if left to evolution had no need to do anything at all to survive. it already was doing so.

Another current belief of mine (which could change -- I allow myself to change my mind based on new science), is that the human mind is simply not equipped to comprehend our origin. When I say that to some, they take offense. They think I'm calling them dumb, when I'm just pointing out that our minds may be missing whatever grey matter it takes to figure it out completely.

George Carlin does a sketch about that. Like, we're so presumptious that we were meant to be, but maybe the Earth needed, say, plastic. So it evolved us, got all the plastic it needs, and is now slowly killing us off. Maybe through a sexually transmitted virus.....
