Americans don't play a lot of `proper` team sports. Baseball is the pitcher and the batter. American Football is the guy that can throw and the guy that can run and catch. Ice Hockey is Canadian.
Basketball is close, but that's trended towards the `guy that scores the most`.

 

They do have football (soccer) though, which there ladies are quite good at.

 

Seventy pounds of protection to play rugby?
