    On the B-day 1st...

    When I was a kid I thought, "When I'm 44 it'll be in the year 2,000!" And the fact that i actually would be 44, and the fact that I would see the year 2,000, always blew my mind.

    After being homeless for over a year just 4 years ago (yeah ... I'll tell you about that), I'm happy for every day I'm alive and under my roof with my dogs. Before that period in my life, I figured I'd probably get lung disease from smoking sometime in my 70s. That still may happen. ;) So, even though I tell folks I'm 38 and they believe me (I look younger than my age), I'm almost half surprised I made it.

    I already lived there for 6 years, liked it too, but I doubt I'll ever move back.
    I'm surprised I made it to 40 without being shot, or OD'ing, or have some sort of horrific accident while drunk.
