Oh, hey that's not so bad. Have you ever eaten a pike? I never have.

 

We were sitting and fishing on the lake's edge. When we saw the moose staring at us we froze, knowing that a moose will charge at you if they sense something's wrong. The moose stared us down for about 5 minutes, then quietly went into the shallow part of the lake. That's when we saw the 2 calfs. Magnificent animal. Glad we didn't have to run.

 

I looked up a good recipe. The ingredients vary slightly depending on the bartender.

2 oz Kahlua
2 oz cognac
4 oz strong espresso
1 1/2 oz whipped cream

 

They are magnificent indeed. I've seen them at Yellowstone. One bull was about 20 feet away happily chewing on shore grass. There was a big railing between it and the group of people I was standing with - we were on a bridge. He couldn't care less about us.

 

The result...

 

Probably pretty tasty but not my kind of drink.

 

Cool. On Isle Royale, everything is wilderness. The moose aren't used to people. My biggest fear was the wolf pack they have up there. They told us we wouldn't see the wolves if we tried, and they were right. They were very adamant about what to do if we saw a moose, though. After that incident I got the message.

 

yup. its pretty good smoked.

 

I figured, but thought I'd give ya the idea.

 

On that very same camping trip on Isle Royale, I caught three pike and we had that for dinner that night. They were excellent.

 

Wolves will avoid people at almost all costs. They're pretty smart.

Yellowstone is a trip worth taking if only for the buffalo. Actually, for buffalo head to Windcave Nat'l Park in South Dakota. It's near the Badlands and Mount Rushmore.

Hmm. I've usually just done catch and release with pike because bass and trout are always in the same lakes, both of which I really like.
