    Government that is ineffective is worse than having a 2 party system like what we have now, just because 1 party is in control doesn't mean they can't get what they always want. There is a thing as a filibuster if it comes to who wants to deny something bad enough.

    As far as the subjects you brought up there really is only 2 stance that you can take, for example abortion is either legal or illegal, helmet laws are you have to wear one or you don't. Most laws are yes or no laws anyways. :p

    Only in fiscal policy do you really have multiple viewpoints. ;)

    What makes you think anything greater than a two party system would be ineffective? Pointing at the Europeans as an example is pointless because A) they're historically quarelsome... and B) Americans have a entirely different mindset.

    On your second point, duh! everything is either legal or illegal. :? My point was that the fed has been infringing on states rights because neither party has held up that particular Constitutional division with anything like what the founding fathers intended, hence they've used federal sway to dilute those rights for their own (special) interests, not to mention furthering their party's agenda. Currently, neither party takes a strong central stance on states rights. It's unfortunate and a disservice to the citizenry.
