If you don't think it would work in the US, that's your opinion, which is fine. But, without actually putting a 3 party system into play in this country your opinion is moot. Most of the electorate, whether they lean toward the republicans or democrats, tend to be moderates at heart who can't stand the extreme/fringe elements for their respective parties. Given a choice to create a bloc with like minded voters to get behind a candidate who more or less represents that moderate view, I propose they would go for it. Unfortunately, people running for office that fill the bill are atrociously underfunded and can't compete with the candidates who are so heavily funded by speacil interests. It would take someone with a Bill Gates like bankroll to personally finance a campaign that could compete with the status quo. Ross Perot nearly pulled it off, but in the end he was just too kooky for the masses to get behind. Until the right person comes along, we'll never know. For now it's like comparing apples and oranges without the benefit of having an apple at hand.

The reason why you can't select one is because they don't exist. That is why there is no apples in your hands to weigh. Look at how many other multi-party political system that are out there that has failed or does not meet the criteria for their people. I think scribe you are looking for a utopia that just doesn't exist.

You just simply cannot have a better system when you are dealing with human nature. Everybody is after their own greed. Until you can take the human factor out of it there will always be hidden agendas and the more political parties you have the more agendas there will be. Nothing will ever get done.
