It was one of his Happy Hours, first season, towards the end. There's an family-hailing-from-the-Indian-sub-continent lady, in sari style gear, asks her name - i don't recall it, but let's say she says `Parminder` in this broad London accent, and without a beat `beautiful British name`

The thing about his comedy, the reason it's been so successful is because, on the surface, he plays up the cliche of English skinhead alcoholic lout. But his humour is offensive only to those who seek to be offended. It's self-deprecating, as we are, but jokes that are funny.

Anything that's funny, by it's very nature, can't be offensive. Unless you want it to be.

 

Take this for example; i just watched the commentaries on my `S.W.A.T.` DVD, and it's all fine and funny, thoroughly unobjectionable little actioner.
But on the writers commentary, they're talking about the `Polish hostage` scene in the movie; real SWAT call these guys who say `come in here and i'll blow my head off` Polish hostages. Un-PC, but what the hell.
Anyway, one of the writers had this line, taken in concept from the way real SWAT officers acted around each other, razzing and bullshitting amongst a family. It would have come after Colin Farrell and Michelle Rodriguez have come from her kids birthday party, and as they're moving into position with LL Cool J, Colin says thanks for inviting me to the party, no problem says Michelle, but LL says, Party? What party? Why wasn't i invited? And Colin would shoot back, `Cos you're black.

To me, that would have been funny as hell. But the MPAA would probably have had a stroke.
