In some cases. Most are designed to infringe on personal rights, and all of them tend to be misleading. They're packed with fine print that state their true intent that tends to get buried - and never openly mentioned in the way they're advertised. That practice should be outlawed... I think I'll file a referendum next time around.

Changing laws is hard work. You can't expect politicians to be responsive, let alone proactive. The fact of the matter is that the law is on the books, it's irrelevent whether or not it actually works so long as the politicians can point to it and say, "See, we did our job."
