Frankly, I was surprised she did a topless scene, even briefly. I didn't see the movie so I can't say whether or not it was gratuitous, but she's had a pretty successful career so far. Most actresses won't resort to nudity unless they're trying to rebound. That doesn't apply to all of them of course. I think Halle Berry just wanted everybody to see her tits, and for that I thank her!

 

I wasn't. Actresses can show nudity for so many damn reasons, it can be mind boggling. Whether its to restart their career, start it off with a bang, because of a special role in which its necessary, to just needing the damn extra money, to just wanting to show off because they are a free spirit and don't care what people think of her showing her goods.

But either way, I'm glad Elisha showed something...wish it was a better showing still. Luckily, now that she has shown some bits. It won't be too long until she shows more unless she does like Kate Beckinsale and show great nudity then nothing ever again.

 

Ya, it really served no purpose but to make us but hey if she wanted to show them then I am all for it.

 

I don't like this POV. Art is supposed to show the sublime, and while part of that is the beauty of nature or emotion, part of it is also the beauty of humanity. When it gets down to it, showing her body is no more "purposeless" or less artistic than Michelangelo'ss David.

IOW, inspiring lust or any other emotion is one of the primary purposes of art.

I don't care one way or the other in most cases, truth be told. Tits are a dime a dozen.

 

In the end, when it comes to nudity. Really, I say anything is acceptable. Because while what she did served no real purpose in the movie, ultimately it is what a person do in real life.

So yes, it was absolutely unnecessary and just done for lustful reasons probably. But hey, it's how a real person act so in a way, she is staying true to the role on a very basic human level. Because I know it pisses me the fuck off any time I see all these sex scenes where people will keep their bra's on or after the sex, use a blanket to cover themselves. Most people don't do that, and its nice to see a movie show how people really act when it comes to nudity. So in that respect, Elisha's nudity was a good thing. As its always better to be real, then fake.

Besides, I don't exactly know how her character in the movie is. But if her character is suppose to be a person who doesn't care about flashing people...etc. Then hey, maybe she was more in character by doing that.
