Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

Got a little lucky on a couple. I wasn't 100% on the origin of "government of the people, by the people, for the people" but Gettysburg was the only one that made sense. The Socrates/Plato/Aquinas/Aristotle one I didn't know which they all supported but I could rule out at least one of the others for one of the bunch.

Also 75% on average is pretty good for the public.

I mean, things like "public good" are technical definitions that there's no reason for the average person to know. Some of the court-packing stuff and Puritan sinfulness stuff is just rote history that might be handy on rare occasion but has little to do with civic literacy IMO. The Fed question's a bit of an intentionally technical way of phrasing something that most people would recognize immediately if it were "raise and cut short-term target interest rates"

I wasn't 100% either my friend. :( The thing about that test that strikes me the most is the fact that even when I was in school (graduated in 1988), the vast majority of the facts behind the correct answers to that quiz weren't taught to me in school. I had to learn about them years after the fact whilst doing my own reading/research. :(

Because of the questions, and the verbiage used in that test, I think an "average" American adult should get 75-plus percent.

The AP actually picked up on this recently, and they even said that "the vast majority of Americans are too ignorant to vote". :(

The AP is a news reporting organization. They don't opine. Possibly they quoted someone who said that.

With the (dark), (and that has nothing to do with race lurkers......I don't give a shit if he's blue. ;) ) horizon that we as Americans have to look forward to after the 20th, methinks "the public good" will be a term that we'll all come to know too well . With this past election, we as Americans have stepped in something called Socialism, and with the current state of the Congress, it's going to be a filth/stink that's hard to wipe from one's shoe. :(
