since i love being outdoors, i got alot of stuff for outdoor stores. like sports authority and the north face. So i am buying a sleeping matt, kennel cover for my dog, sandals, water purifier for backpacking, bear container (keep bears from eating your food), sleeping bag made out of goose down, bivy sack, and cargo shorts.

for the past few years i went backpacking with a friend who had most of the gear, the gear i had were not well suited for "ultra light" backpacking. I had a cheap sleeping bag(weighs almost 6 pounds), cheap sleeping mat(1/2" think and no cold protection from the ground) that wasn't very comfortable, etc. Although i had alot of fun now that i have more expendable income i would like to upgrade my gear as much as possible. And since I do use these things for hunting as well it makes sense to get high quality stuff.

This summer i plan on making a trip back to vietnam for 3+ weeks and will need some of these things cause a 3rd world country isn't much more advance than being outdoors. And i hope to go backpacking in yosemite when i get back from that vacation.

I have over 300USD in certificates to use up. Si i know i will have to throw in some extra money but right now i am buying all the stuff i need on sale or clearance because these stores are selling their summer backpacking stuff away for less than 1/2 price. So it is a great deal to buy right now.

For example, i bought a very nice Teva sandal that was $85 for just $25. A sleeping matt i specifically want was $90 is on sale now for $44.83 and will be half of that sale price this friday according to the REI sale's staff. :D

So if i just wait to pick and choose my deals I can get most of my gear for really cheap. No need to throw good money away when i can slowly accumulate these things all winter long. :D

yeah sweet man, i hear ya with the sleeping stuff i only have a mat that is probly less than 1/2 inch thick..so uncomfortable on the rocky ground where we camp. but i have a good sleeping bag, i was sweating in it last time lol! yeah it pays to have good stuff that for sure! Vietnam a, i am planing on going there later in the year too! and then a few other countrys like thailand again after that hopefully if i have enough money!

the sleeping bag i wanna get is called the kilo bag from The North Face. cause it only weighs a kilo. To me now it is all about comfort so i intend to make it as comfortable and as light as possible. Hopefully i can go farther and more into the deep wilderness this time. :D

As far as Vietnam, the tips i have been getting is avoid their water and ice for the first couple days and acclimate yourself to the conditions. If you are into exotic fruits there are plentiful almost year round but summer is best ( i believe it is your winter). This is why i am bringing back a water filter for backpacking back to filter my water. Even the supposed water bottles you buy can be filled with their well water and re-sealed was what i was told. I plan on going this july 12th till early august for a bit over 3 weeks. If you are planning on going after I get back I will fill you in on what i had learned so you won't make the same mistakes i do. ;)

I know obviously cold, being night and all, but still, valid query.
