The comic geeks have squealed and wailed about a few things, but they're still unhappy Chris Nolan dared to drag the franchise into the `real` world. Regardless of the fact it's been wildly successful. Thankfully, no one listens to them that much anymore.

It is funny seeing buildings of Chicago in the background and thinking `i've been there.....i've seen that....hey, they used that building in The Negotiator`

The one thing that amused me, that i commented upon at the time, is that even after 10 plus years of Chinese control, Hong Kong police still look very British in their appearance. :mrgreen:

I mean, if he was merely good, but not amazing, and people were saying Oscar only 'cos he died, that'd be one thing.

But he's mesmerising, dominating every scene he's in.

I'm just worried people won't vote for him because they don't won't people to think they're giving awards to him just 'cos he's dead, so in some silly effort to seem `balanced`, they won't pick him. I think he deserves the full collection of the top acting awards, but i have this sneaking suspicion he might not get anything.

Car chase scenes on Lower Wacker Drive are some of the best I've ever seen. And LaSalle Street (where the Chicago Commodoties Exchange is located and where Gordon got shot) just looks like what a financial district should look like, even more so than Wall Street.

He fuckin killed in that role. It's a rare treat when you see a character come so alive that the words "as played by" never even enter your head. It wasn't just the make up either. The Joker was the Joker. What an unexpected joy that was to watch Ledger's performance.

I can't remember the last time an Oscar was awarded posthumously in a weay that wasn't honorary. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't been playing very close attention for some years now. How about the Golden Globes? They always seem more equitable, and more in touch with how the masses really feel about Hollywoodland and it's products.

The GG's are usually a lot more entertaining too. Possibly 'cos there's alcohol and people get steadily drunker as the night progresses. I vividly recall one year i think Christine Lahti won an award, but she'd nipped to the loo, not realising her category was coming. The presentee wouldn't leave the stage until she got there. And when she did arrive, she got a huge round of applause, and Robin Williams jumped up, servant-like, with a faux towel over his arm for her to dry her hands. Don't ever see stuff like that at the Oscar's.
