Nearly everyone that fought for the colonies during the Revolutionary War had zero training, let alone combat experience. Jimmy Carter wrote an excellent historical novel about the fighters from Georgia that would blow your mind. I'll try to find the title for you. It's a facsinating read.

Advanced technology doesn't gaurantee resounding success, just ask anybody back from Iraq, where they're up against insurgents, most of whom are volunteers given only rudimentary instruction before going forth and creating havoc.

But like I said, it's a Hollywood movie from the Cold War era. It's sole purpose is to make you root for the underdog. What's more preposterous is that the Russians could invade the USA at all!! :roll:

They had george washington leading them and training them. They were not all ragtags, besides military equipment vs what you can have as a civilian is totally different than what the colonists and british soldiers had which was pretty much similar muskets. And yes if you throw enough numbers at any conflict you get a slight advantage, but military grade weapons now days is far superior than it was way back then.

Sure they can put up a resistance only because we as Americans are in their country fighting a politically correct war. If we were in it and didn't care for civilians like the Russians in this movie we would just have nuked the entire country.
