Jerry Maguire is in an odd place, arguably not a football movie and treads the melodrama/comedy/sports line. So who knows where it is.

Then a tie between Friday Night Lights and Any Given Sunday, both of which are better than Titans or Rudy or Brian's Song or the Program or Paper Lion or whatever.

No football movies are in the top 5 sports movies, though. Bull Durham, Rocky, Raging Bull, the Hustler, Cincinatti Kid, Eight Men Out, Caddyshack, the Natural, Chariots of Fire. All better than any football movie, and then heartstring films like Hoosiers and Field of Dreams still maybe better, and maybe a few other comedies along the lines of Kingpin or indie films like Poolhall Junkies.

 

Washington's role in the Revolution was actually pretty insignificant in the greater scheme of things, and it didn't help that nearly everything he did failed.

Never had the chance to enjoy any of that stuff today. kept having to do things around the house. :?

Varsity Blues is really pretty good but it's not in the tier with the top 3. Definitely underrated, though, good call.

Mean Machine is worse than the original Longest Yard but better than the more recent one.

 

I'm a fan of The Replacements, but that's more a comedy.

And Gridiron Gang is pretty good, but i'm quite a fan of Dwayne's. Boy's got some chops, especially considering his provenance.

 

And add Rocky II into the list of greatest sports movies, too. So I probably wouldn't put any football movie in the top 10 sports movies of all time.
