No doubt, it's been quite a while since his last update.

    Catch ya later.

I think it comes on at the same time as one of my other favorite shows.

Aside from the perennially hysterical media, we know there's no magic fix to all this mess; it'll take time.

'Course, that won't stop us bouncing out our feckless, rudderless, spineless, unelected Government at our very first opportunity.

LOL - I don't think any nation likes their gov't.

Sorry for being so random, having an issue here at work. I wish people would leave things that working well alone instead of trying to change them.

No, i meant because of the odd political position we're in, the Prime Minister being non-directly elected by the electorate. It's not a big problem in the grand scope, he not being the head of state, but in reality, an annoying thorn that won't go away.

Hence the reason he's been putting off the election for as long as he legally can (summer of 2010 at the latest). And the only reason you put off any kind of vote is because you know you're going to lose.

I didn't know that. Who is the head of state if it's not the Prime Minister?

The Queen. See, we are not a pure democracy. Shit, i don't think anybody is a pure democracy. We are a constitutional monarchy.

The Prime Minister is actually Her Majesties First Minister.

It's something that always bugged Tone and his witch of a wife. He wanted a plane of his own like Air Force One (Blair Force One), but as he wasn't a head of state, he could never figure out a way to slip that past the people. And Cherie wanted to be First Lady-esque. And couldn't seem to learn to keep her trap shut.

hmm, strange that someone that high up on the chain can delay a vote. It's been to long since i've been in high school, I can't remember shit about other countries gov't policies.

It's not delaying a vote; the law says it has to be only five years between each election. The Prime Minister can ask Her Majesty to dissolve Parliament tomorrow or a year after the last election. But when five years rolls around, he has to call it.

    Keeps our system fluid.

That's alright; it takes getting used too. I've seen two elections depicted on The West Wing, and `learnt` through other places and mediums about the US system, and it still leaves me confused and oddly infuriated. ;)
