Once a baseball player gets to a certain amount of service (time), they have about the best chance to make big bucks compared to any sport. Other teams have salary caps, non-guaranteed contracts, etc. a mediocre left handed pitcher can make some nice coin is baseball.

there are inequities for sure ... ARod doesn't always hit in the clutch, but man he has made so much money!

 

he is a first baseman, he still needs mobility and range.

 

if clubs are willing to pay him and tickets are still being sold they will continue to pay him what they think he is worth. quite frankly i think they can get so much more for their money than with a-rod. I think manny ramirez is as clutch as it gets.

 

His weight wont improve his glove skills, or game intelligence.

Yes they are, not sure if Holliday was worth the money, but I still wish the Phils had gotten him.

 

I regret not pursuing a career in pro baseball. I was pretty good player when I was young. I had a great eye at the plate and damn good throwing arm. Except for a meager few, players weren't getting these ridiculous multi-million dollar contracts back in the seventies. Plumbing contractors could, and often did, make more money.

 

Met's say they aren't interested in him, I wonder where he will end up.
