    I've heard this before from a small lot of people who have no evidence to back up their meritless argument. If there was even a hint of impropriety like that going on Vegas sports books would cease to exist because the casinos wouldn't risk their gaming licenses on pro sports. On the contrary, sports books are the first to catch on to possible fixes or points shaving because the money points the way to it. Someone is always trying to profit from it. Sports books here have actually helped uncover such situations in the NCAA on several occasions.

    I gambled on sports for 20 years, I've heard every stupid thing people have come up with to explain their bad luck, and trust me I've heard some doozeys. :lol:

    i got a chuckle out of this one because you made it sound as if the vegas casinos are the shining knights that would root out such illegal activities. You forgot that in 99% of the cases involved point shaving it is bookies and beople associated with the betting that causes the points to go a predetermined way. Tim Donaghy who was an ex-NBA ref pointed out a couple games that involved "company" men who reffed it to give the advantage to a certain team. It just so happened that the NBA pulled the archived games to the exact same 2 games that was stated by Tim Donaghy as the games that was blatantly rigged. So if the NBA had nothing to fear why did they removed tjose two games from their archive for review?

    I'm curious how you define the influence that the front office & league have.

    I'd hope that the the front office can influence by putting together the best organization of players, coaches, facilities, etc.

    The league can surely influence through rule changes, scheduling, etc. Some actions will benefit some teams while hurting others.
