Steinbrenner actually runs the Yankees to be a profitless enterprise to benefit his tv network (MSG). Bigger sports stars = higher viewership = higher ad revenue = larger profits. Plus, he gets to write off his losses on the team. It's pretty smart business when you think about it. It still doesn't guarantee a penant or world series win, but hey, you can't have everything.

Well teams are stacked. The giants that year had a shitload of steroid abusers when they went to the world series. Both their catchers, third basemen, bonds, were all on steroids.

 

im not so naive that i believe everybody involved with sports is a saint but i also dont think that games are so fixed that you cant believe the outcome of the game is fair, and i also think that the bigger the game the less likely it would be fixed because of the extra scrutiny they receive

 

tell that to alot of the viewers of this past week's superbowl.

 

I found $11.00 worth of quarters in a pay phone at the MGM Grand once. Someone must've tried to make an international call, failed and then neglected to get their change back from the phone!

 

my point exactly, everybody sees the superbowl fixing it would be insane because of the scrutiny it receives every play is analyzed, people will believe its fixed but i just dont see it, the refs probably saw the play as an obvious fumble and now they probably regret no looking at it
